Got mine for £450 from Merlin, ordered on 15th. I am a complete bike moron though so could someone tell me whether to remove the blue plastic rim thingy or not and, if so, how?

    Cheers

Don't remove it. It's rim tape.

I ordered some RS80s in the Merlin sale which turned out to be out of stock. After a bit of bargaining and cheekiness on my part I've ended up with a deal on some of these instead.

Arrive on Monday. I hope I'll be impressed!!!

Question guys, when shimano state the weight of the DA wheels on their website, is that without the quick release skewers in? ie 1380g.

Just asking because I also have a pair of Mavic ksyrium SL Premiums and their weight on the mavic site state 1485g, is that wheels & skewers? or just wheels?

The weight will be without skewers - sometimes the weight is without rim tape too - don't know if that's the case with Shimano - but definitely weigh them without skewers.

Just fitted these onto my bike but not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem, when I spin the back wheel it doesn't freewheel very much & slows down very quickly, not like my other wheels..... Is this normal or is it because their new and need wearing in?

Assuming you've got everything set up right it sounds like a wheel issue. My neutron ultras can freewheel for a couple of minutes in the workstand. Dura Ace level bearings are pretty good, so you should find the same.

If ive got a wheel issue, does the wheel need sending back or can my LBS sort it out?

It does make a clicking sound when its freewheeling, not sure if this is normal.

    Mine just keep on spinning!

Take them back but check you haven't knocked a brake pad off centre on to it putting it on first!

    Holy carp!

Just replaced my Vitoria Zaffiros/Shimano Rs10s with these wheels and Vittoria Open Paves.

Finally went for a spin today/just now. Totally amazed by the difference. The comfort level is about the same/a little better but the power/acceleration difference is just sick. I put a new cassette on the new wheels with a harder gear range and the lowest (highest? never really know what way round it goes) I went was 50/13 on a reasonably uphill ride.

The comfort level/road feel at high speed was greatly improved but as I said before, at around 10-15 mph not massively different.

Acceleration is just unbelievable. I can't believe the difference. Getting up to ~30mph on flats was a breeze.

My bike feels half the weight. That's the only and best way I can describe the change.

    Wow.
