The 700C clinchers, same as on Merlin Cycles

    Weight - 623g (front) or 811g (rear)

    Officially

My pair from Merlin arrived Friday and they are lovely, well made and aesthetically pleasing :D not yet ridden them yet, they feel very light and the rim walls very thin  thinking of the 50mm clinchers as well.

    There are two...

The shallow rim (WH 7850 C24 CL) and the deep rim (WH 7850 C50 CL)

The shallow ones are 1380g a pair and the deep ones are 1695 a pair.

It was really really easy to find the weights on Google.

They are even on the shimano website!

I did do a search, the shimano website is saying 1380g, but as "Flanners1" said weight - 623g (front) 811g (rear) which equals 1434g... Which is correct :)

I have been reading that these wheels have an indicator on them to show when they are wearing down, is this true?........ And how long do these wheels normally last, a few months, a year or a couple of years.

But don't you get the warm feeling inside from supporting your LBS?

People talk about supporting their LBS. I would only be prepared on supporting them at the same price or may be a little bit more than the cheapest from the internet. Let’s say 450 from Merlin. I would pay 475 from my bike shop and the wheels fitted.

They are still £616 at Wiggle so I don't feel quite so sick. Still, it's no wonder the LBS owner smiles when I walk through the door.

Yes they do have an indicator on them. As for your second point how long is a piece of string?! If they are your only wheelset and you ride in all weathers especially the rain/salty roads then the rims are going to wear faster. I have a set of Ksyrium SSC's circa 2003 and they have minor barke surface wear with 000's of miles still in them, they don't go near wet/gritty roads. That is why I have set's of training wheels like Askiums, Scirocco's and Khamsin's etc to wear them out without worrying too much.

Merlin sold out at £809 found them for £813 from CycleSports UK, they had extra 10% off over the weekend; ordered them last night so will let you know when my frame and all the parts turn up and the weather is nice enough to ride a new steed....so August then!!! :D

I have these wheels on my FP3. Simply awesome, rolling like a knife through butter. Just superb, what ever the price.

I am definately buying the 50mm carbon set for the summer, hopefully, late March.

Can I fit an Ultegra 10 speed cassette onto these wheels or does it need to be DA?

All Shimano/SRAM cassettes now fit DA wheels, unlike the 7801 series which was Da or Ultegra only I think.

    This ain't correct.
Their website makes it clear the 10% discount does NOT apply to factory wheels.

They will set you back 500 stripes .

They went back to £500 on wednesday, luckily I ordered mine tuesday so got them for £450, and they arrived today :)
Just need to swap the DA skewers now for KCNC skewers as I feel the DA ones are quite heavy.
I do have a little noise in the freewheel so hopefully this will go in time.

Got mine at end of last year. Yet to use them but yes they are a bit noisy, is this normal then?

is that price on merlin per wheel or for the whole pair ? £500 for the set seems a bit too low to me
