Chrome does have other annoyances, like a lack of RSS bookmark support, but I can live with those.
That is easily, far and away the most boring thing I have ever read on a bike related forum. Keep in mind I spent a while on a forum with Ant talking about his diesel focus.

Awesomebar - crap
Safe browsing thingy - crap, at least you can turn it off
It's also STILL got memory leak issues.
The memory issues with FF are pretty bad, especially in Win7, but there is a useful extension called Memory Fox which sorts that out. I was a bit sceptical about it but FF is now running quite nicely without eating up all of the system memory.0 -
I use Linux with Firefox 3.5 or Konqueror.

Ah the joys of KDE based Linux, running Kubuntu by any chance?
I personally use IE, and it is mainly due to when I was doing my dissertation involving 3d content plug-ins that were only available in IE. Firefox has goten far too bloated for TBH, occasionaly use Chrome when I want simple and fast browsing.
For a great sense of secure browsing you really can't beat an obscure browser like Konqueror on Linux.0 -

Yup sure am - 9.10 the Karmic Koala!! Roll on the Lucid Lynx! Really like the feel of KDE4.3.x its fresh and sharp. And coupled with the regular 6 monthly update on the Ubuntu platform, you're never too far away from any updates. And - I dont need to pay for Office (openoffice.org & the OS for that matter!)For a great sense of secure browsing you really can't beat an obscure browser like Konqueror on Linux.
Very true indeed!! I love being part of the minorityIt's been a while...0 -
From a web design/developer veiwpoint IE is a PITA, I can get a site to look perfect in Firefox and safari, then view it on IE and it will do something silly.Santa Cruz Chameleon

So, here’s my theory:
Google launch their new browser. Google would like more people to use it than it’s competitor Microsoft.
Google say their email account system in China is being hacked:

This creates a huge interest. Low and behold, Google say it’s a weakness in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer that was utilised by the hackers:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8460819.stm
Oh Noes! What shall the Internet do? The German Government says:
The German government has warned web users to find an alternative browser to Internet Explorer to protect security.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8463516.stm
The French follow shortly:
France has echoed calls by the German government for web users to find an alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) to protect security.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8465038.stm
it was this paragraph that started to make me think there may be a conspiracy going here:
Following the news, Germany's Federal Office for Information Security issued a warning against all versions of Internet Explorer and recommended that users switch to an alternative such as Firefox or[/i[] Google's Chrome.
However, I’m not sure where this one’s going:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8467491.stm
Might be Google flexing it’s corporate muscles in China, but again, the last paragraph of that story reads:
As a result, the governments of France and Germany have warned their citizens to switch to a new browser such as Firefox or Google's Chrome
To conclude: Google’s trying to shaft Microsoft and the Chinese Government.

No need. Two different things.
Google and China is pure geo-political power struggle: link
The EU (germany / france) microsoft antitrust case / stance has been rumbling on for years. This is just another justified two fingered poke in the eyes again.0 -
Linux and Firefox, I'm happy. Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"0
