These two need to be marched out into a yard and executed!

Isn't the real issue behind these outrages the society that produces them?
Violence breeds violence, should we stop them breeding (works with dogs)?
Humans have always done horrific things to each other, unless you breed out the vile ones it will continue, but where do you draw the line?
If you start killing people because of their acts or beliefs it becomes a very dangerous slippery slope.
A film called the "Cube" was a perfect example of why everyone is important, irrespective of what we or others think of them.
I don't know what the answer is, executing them sounds appealing to satisfy bloodlust, but doesn't stop these things happening and never will, sad but true.0 -
^ Agreed.
It really does make me weep with frustration when people say things like 'this wouldn't happen in China!'
Well those people can bugger off and live in China if they want.
Oh wait, except you like being able to own property without fear of it being taken away with no notice or explanation, you like the right to a fair trial and you like having no fear of torture or admissions under duress, you like open access of information and freedom of speech and free dissemination of ideas. You like freedom of movement and you can live as a rural worker without being treated as a second-class citizen by your own government. If you're a woman, you like being treated equally (well, not quite, but that's another matter) to men, and you like living in a relatively race-equal society (again, not quite). You like political and religious freedom, and one day you might want to have more than one child.
And do those people know how the penal system works in China? You get taken away without a proper trial, then you go to some of the worst prisons in the world without even being given a date for your execution, no visitors, no exercise, no books, no nothing. So you cack yourself with fear every time the guard comes in, because he might be coming for you. Then one day, with no warning, the guard opens your cell and you get led outside and shot in the head. This happens to an estimated 5,000-10,000 people a year.
And it's not just murder (or other serious crimes such as rape, people trafficking etc) that gives the death penalty. You can get it for arson, for smuggling/trading guns, for selling fake medicines or potentially dangerous foods, for smuggling relics and precious metals and wildlife, for counterfeiting money, for commiting financial fraud, or for possession of drugs.
Do you honestly think that's a better system? Now in Europe, even if you're locked away for life, at least you get properly fed and housed, outdoor time/exercise and reading material and visits from your loved ones, as well as a fair bloody trial in the first place.
And furthermore, do those people honestly think that some people are 'born evil' or something daft like that? Are we living in the medieval period? Now if those two boys had come from a wealthy family in a nice area, gone to a nice school etc, do you think they would have committed so many crimes? Of course not. So - I'm not saying it's not their fault - but what I am saying is, it's the society that they were brought up in that led them on that path. If you can recognise that, then you can surely recognise the reason why they shouldn't be executed? They need help, not an electric chair.
Now personally I think the pro-China/pro-execution brigade just haven't thought about what they're saying, but, if they have, then I think we would both prefer it if they moved to the other side of the world.
Maybe it's the recession, maybe it's the influx of people from other cultures (which I welcome), but I've noticed in the last 18 months the morals of this country have really gone downhill. I can't believe that Yorkshire and the Humber actually voted in a BNP MEP, it really does make me ashamed to say that I'm from this country sometimes. Now I dearly hope that as the recession gradually fades away and Britain prospers again that people will start moving forwards rather than backwards.0 -
