You only think you need to size up? Or you know it, but are reluctant to make the move? :?
Tell your OH to increase your budget
Just 'bat' your eyelids.... You know it works
I think I know I do! Going for a measure-up this weekend. But then again I was sized up for this bike and it felt OK at the time (but that was off the back of riding a mtb every day and my riding style was different back then).
It's me that's set the ceiling on the budget. He'd double the budget if I gave the green light!

    If that wasn't a female statement...... :lol::lol:
I appreciate you setting a budget, but, to be honest, if there was only a couple of hundred quid between 'making do' or, getting the Italian frameset that you obviously do want, I'd spend the cash.... Then have a word with myself at a later date :?
If you were going to buy the Italian option at the weekend, you wouldn't 'think you know you do!'... You'd know

If you drop the carbon requirement I wonder what sort of S1 you could build up (Athena or Chorus maybe?) for £2k?

I think it's a real shame Cannondale don't do framesets in the UK. I recently came within a few button depressions of buying a CAAD9 Ultegra. However while Ultegra 6700 is probably very nice I really objected to Fulcrum 7s on a £1,700 bike.

You can buy a CAAD9 frame. It's £699 although that's with the aluminium steerer fork. I'm sure they'll put an all carbon one on there.

    I was seriously undecided between a CAAD9 and a Cervelo S2...

I think it's more likely to be £500+ over budget, not just a couple of hundred :( . But yes, if I walked into a bike shop this weekend and saw the frame I wanted then I'd know I need it. Last week I wanted a De Rosa Avant, this week I'm back on the Orbea Diva (ok, so not Italian, but...). Both way over budget so I need to scale back. (I could go interest free on the extra cost as I'm sure the monthly child benefit would cover the installments :P )

If you are short I'd stay away from the Cervelo S1.

There's plenty of good frames that you could build up for £2K without resorting to a crappy geometry S1

Tell us what size you need and I'm sure the BikeRadar Forum Elite will scour the web and their LBSs and find you a good deal.

OK, if you're up for the challenge...!

Not too sure of sizing I need - poss looking at a 53 in the Orbea (women's) or 51 Orbea men's, or 50 or 51 in a men's De Rosa. If that's not too complicated. I really need to get sized up tho. (Currently ride 48s (about 51cm) on a De Rosa Vega).

You could get one custom built for around 2k.
Roberts do 953 steel frames for around a grand, spend the rest on bits and upgrade as necessary. The frame will last for ever and fit you perfectly.

    Jeez... Ands!
    You're certainly high dollar
That Orbea is like rocking horse poop
You'd definitely have exclusivity, if you got one of those.

Maybe if you appeal to the forums better nature, they may chip in, too!

Do you think? I like the paint job on the black/blue. I think the Onix Dama is in my price range but the paint job is pants. Do you think I should look at other things besides colour then?

I think the reference to rocking horse poop was to suggest it was quite difficult to find, rather than it looks nasty.

Yes, they do. I had a look online at those the other day - I had never heard of them before. They are German, aren't they? They look very nice altho I haven't done any proper research on them yet. Do you ride one?

Ands, as you are a lady, and you were obviously suffering a 'blonde moment', I will resist spitting my dummy out at the reference to me being a Norfolk turkey   I am Welsh... but, you weren't to know

I think it's about time I apologised for hijacking this thread ....sorry Ian
The OP wanted a 2k carbon bike. I jumped in looking for a £1k carbon frame, possibly a de rosa. I don't have 2k (and hence I will never afford the Orbea Diva frame  )
