Blackberry GPS apps

Hi guys,

I've got a Blackberry curve, and rather than invest in an expensive Garmin device, I'd like an app for it that uses its GPS features.

I'd like to record routes, elevation, etc

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Jon

Good idea, I've got a BB as well and was thinking about this myself the other day.
I just did a very quick search, and the only thing that came up was this: http://www.skylab-mobilesystems.com/en/ ... berry.html

Will cost you $24 though. Actually I'd be interested in how well it works as I got upgraded to a Bold (9000) and must say the GPS on it is rubbish. Google maps just sits there for ages saying 'searching for satellites'.

I'm not a huge geek, but I did get one really useful app working, which lets me use the phone as a remote control to play songs through my laptop when I'm on the turbo. Magic!

Mapmyride.com has a BB app. Haven't used it since the accuracy of GPS on the BB is pretty poor. You have to be a Silver member, $60USD, to get the app.

I've just installed this as well: http://www.bbtracker.org/ which is free.
Not tested it yet, but agree the accuracy won't be great. I'd probably look for a cheap GPS device if I was that bothered :)
  • Thanks guys....yeah Ive also concluded that the bb gps is crap so probably worth getting the garmin edge afterall!
  • A bigger problem then the quality of the GPS App is likely to be the battery life, mine gets very hot and runs out of battery very fast indeed, I can't see it being any use at all for what you want to be honest.
