No Time!

Hi all,

just after some training advice.

My aim is to do a 100km mountain bike challenge event in Austria (did it last year) mid July.

BUT..

Between February 1st to mid May I will be able to do just two rides: one weekend ride on Sunday, and one either Friday night (turbo) or Saturday.
By mid May I could up it abit.

So...if you were time-limited, what sort of rides would you do? I was thinking:

Ride A: 3-4 hrs on my road bike. Steady.
Ride B: 1hr Turbo session but with 5 minute blocks of high gears just to maintain some strength.

And save trying to get aerobically fit until May, when I may have time to do some mountain biking!

P.S. I am teacher training, which means no time, no sleep, no life!

Ride A - no question. There's no substitute for time on the bike...

you're talking about two rides per week, correct..? If it was two rides in total between now and May, then it wouldn't really matter what you did, because neither would be any use....

Are you having a laugh? Teacher training will be the easiest weeks of your life! Wait till you get to do it for real. The students with us do less work than the kids which is saying something.

Are you in a comp. or primary school and is commuting an option? If in a comp I'm sure the pe department will be more than helpful.

I wish...i really do. My first school placement almost killed me. Do your students actually teach?

Anyway, I can't cycle to my next school mores the pity. That leaves just two weekend rides.

A better question would be, do the teachers actually teach.

No, seriously, I do remember how hard teacher training was, even teaching one lesson a day could mess you up, people watching your every move as well doesn't help, but it will be harder for you next year if you do get a job, then it starts to get easier.

    What are you teaching?
