Overshoes

I seem to have managed to completely destroy a pair of Endura neoprene overshoes in less than 2 months. The neoprene has become scuffed and ripped and then finally both of the zips have bust.

Can anyone recommend another pair for £20-30? Are the non-neoprene ones colder than the neoprene ones? Colder would not be good!

cheers.

IMO you need to stick with neoprene. Nothing else seems to provide the waterproof & windproof coverage of neoprene.

I use these: http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=NP07800 and have nothing but praise for them.

+1. The metal tabs on both Endura zips snapped in half soon after purchase, and the material wears through quicker than any other make I've bought. Life expectancy ~ 2 months.

Good reviews are meaningless when they don't use the product as the end user does. I would expect to commute for one winter before they wear out.

My Endura zipp broke first time I zipped them up - I was being gentle.

But I took them back and got them replaced and went for a bigger size. It seems to have done the trick. Perhaps worth a try if you get more Enduras

Anyone tried BBB overshoes? I saw them recommended somewhere.

I am considering the Ultraflex -but might be overkill for road use.

Not from this shop but got a pair of these overshoes. They are very waterproof and keep my feet warm being windproof. Velcro takes some getting used to but nothing has ripped and they've had a beasting this winter. I rode in some pretty torrential rain and they've been good. No zips to break!

I have some endura MTB overshoes,

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=17096

Switched to MTB ones after I destoryed several pairs of road ones.

Rear zip with snap-down puller and velcro heel tab to ensure snug fit
    • Moulded rubber toe cap with ridged/grooved underside to help when climbing steep and/or muddy slopes
    • Neoprene meets behind the zip to minimise any water ingress
    • Welded centre seam fro smooth finish and improved water protection
    Abrasion resistant sole
    • Reflective logo and zip panels at rear

Always had trouble with the bits in bold above, zips coming undone and also destrying the bottoms of the overshoes in no time flat from simply stoping.

Will have a quick check to see if they fit my spec road shoes and some sidis

    Alot more rugged!

I've been using a pair of £15 BBB neoprene overshoes for two winters now - still going strong...

  • I settled on Pro Endure H20 which keep my feet dry and warm with the MTB shoes I use to commute in, but I've become a demon with a sewing machine keeping them together!

Thanks for sharing that link - I've just purchased a pair!

If anyone else is interested - I added an energy gell (£0.79) to make the order over £20 for free delivery.

Anyone after the Pro Tarmac NPU might get a bargain here

Looking at getting a pair of these and was wondering if large (40 - 42) would be OK over size 8 shoes or is it pushing it a bit?
  • I have just got some Endura MT500 overshoes. I use shimano M520 spd pedals. First ride out I had a problem with the rubber toecap rubbing on the cranks. Is this something I will have to live with, or is there a cure? I did wonder if other pedals, (eg shimano xt) might have a longer spindle and move my feet further away fron the crank

weird. My Endura's are well into their 2nd winter and have a single scuff mark on them. They look brand new when washed. Luck of the draw I guess....

I destroyed them in one ride. Unless you have a perfect pedalling style - ie your heels don't touch the cranks avoid these.

What suprises\annoys me is that these still get good reviews in the cycling press.

  • I thought it was just me that wore out Enduras like that - few months old and not looking too good :( - i was beginning to think that these things were just disposable every year? I am determined to make them last till spring despite holes and broken zip clasp.

Damn good advice on alternatives for next Winter thx.

I destroyed my "road" ones first ride out. I've heard The MTB MT500s for 12months though and they are still going strong.

ive got some dhb ones from wiggle that have lasted a couple of years and are really good despite been a bit tatty now. i bought some pro classic neoprene ones the other week and they're utter crap, the left toe keeps curling up and over leaving my toes exposed and theyre nowhere near as warn as the dhb ones

I put holes in both Endura's after a couple of spills - now patched up with puncture repair kit & patches!

Dissapointing durability, but otherwise great for warmth and waterproofing, what a shame.

why do people get the Enduras when you can get the Pro's which are more or less the same wonga but are much better built and got better user reviews?

Because the endura's are reviewed every year - and C+ get very excited about them - I haven't seen a review of the pro's

I can honestly say the endura's are the worst £20 i have ever spent on cycling kit

I've had exactly the same problem as well as a broken zip on the right hand side. (replaced foc by CRC)
I've moved my cleats as far over as I can to stop the overshoe rubbing, but it still does it a little. I only notice it on quiet lanes though so not too much of an issue. I may strip some of the rubber away if it's gets too annoying though.

  • I got a pair of Etxeondo gore overshoes a few weeks ago. They fit nicely around the shoe and work perfectly up to now.

I got the Pro Endure H2Os for £30 and couldn't be happier with them, unless they developed the capability of massaging my feet as i ride
