Oh, yeah, forgot about the analogue switch off. I'd be happy to live without TV, I'm in agreement with dmclite on the less is more, but my girlfriend would never put up with that.0

Just wondering, does anyone with digital, satellite or whatever feel that I'm missing out? I've never really seen anything that would tempt me to get satellite, although digital is a possibility.
Depends what you're into.
I'm a huge sports and movie fan so having all those channels alone keeps me smiling. Outside of cycling I'm also a huge tennis fan/player and having the Slams in HD is great. I'm a big TV fan in general but tend to Sky+ most things.
Sky is a bit of a rip off in general, but I don't think I'd ever get rid of it.0 -

The fact that itv4 has all the tour coverage now? and a lot of other cycling too... If you like watching that is...
Granted there are quite a lot of repeats on freeview but when you can get a box for 20 quid then you haven't got much to lose.... oh yeah and you're standard signal will be turned off soon...ours already has been0 -

Good point. Yeah, I'd forgotten about the Tour, although I go to watch that with my grandad, who does have digital. If I move out of the area I suppose the digital box would be a good investment just for the cycling.0 -

Shouldn't it be 5 channels?
I refuse to hand over my hard earned money to Murdoch, but I don't regret buying the freeview box. More4 is worth it. I hated having to wait for the best shows to go to Channel 4, like ER, Without a Trace, The Closer and Hung. The rest of it is all re-runs, but good movies on Film4.
It depends on what you like, really.0 -

No, not if you live in Kent. We can't get Channel 5 because it interferes with French TV or something. I don't regret not having that particular station.0 -

Film4 used to show good movies but that was back in the day when Sky charged you for it. Now it's free the films aren't anywhere near as good.
It wasn't worth the charge though so I never bothered.0 -
House, Lost, 24, Numbers, Hung, Burn Notice, Nip/Tuck, Bones, Lie to Me, Fringe, CSI NY - Miami - Vegas, Dexter, NCIS & NCIS LA, Life on Mars USA, etc, etc, etc.
Some shows that I like. Some on Sky, some on FX and some on terrestrial channels. And all of them bought from the USA. Guess being brought up in North America has tainted me.
I don't mind paying a few quid a month to watch shows I like. Pretty simple really.0 -
Leaving Sky for Freeview, when it is obviously going to up its cycling coverage, IMO doe not make sense. It would be the right move if Eurosport was part of the Freeview package which as far as I know it isn't.
I'm with Virgin and buy there cheapest package which crucially has Eurosport 1 and 2 - tdeF, Vuelta, World Champs etc etc. It also has sky Sports News which if you like football is good fun on Saturday afternoon.T Farr0 -

I've recently ditched some of my Sky Sports channels (kept Sky Sports 2 for the rugby and most has been on 1 since!) and my Sky HD stuff in an economising drive but want them back ASAP. Most of the channels are cr@p though. Can recommend the channels from 900 upwards though and channels 325, 326 and 328 after 10.00pm0

I don't really watch anything other than sport on satellite tv. I can't remember the last time I watched something on Sky 1. Having said that, I rarely ever watch anything on the terrestrial channels either. No Xfactor or Strictly or any of that rubbish is allowed in my house!!0

Not brought up in North America, but I have to say that the yanks make the best cop and hospital shows EVERY!! And anything from HBO is definitely worth watching! 8)0 -
BTW NN, how are the shaved balls going? Or did you stick to your word and let it all grow back and never do it again? :?:Do not write below this line. Office use only.0

they're pretty much all on my skinflint digital too - maybe a series behind but who's counting.
I could do without TV but for the Teletext. It's all a bit more bitesize on there than scouting the net and getting distracted by all of the other shiny bits of paper the www blows across my path.0
