Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. Disappointed on first listen after their first 2 albums but it grew on me.
Some bits of it were a little "WTF?" when I first listened to it, but it certainly has become one of my faves. Def my fave of the year.

    Cool!

Lots of investigating to do of this lot.

+1 for Interpol too though strictly speaking not 2009.

I also recommend Richmond Fontaine's new one if you like your americanna/alt coutry. Not quite up there with "Thirteen Cities" (one of the best albums of all time IMHO) but v good.

I've tuned out from Doves and Kasabian, it all semmed to be past it's best with them.
  • +1 for Madness - liberty of norton folgate

loved the album and saw 'em live at Madstock. t'was ace!

not really been anything else released i've considered spending my hard earned on.
"scalare come se al grembo degli dei" (apologies to any Italain speakers if the grammar/spelling is off)

This year's Madstock? Saw them in 1998 (Madstock 4), my first concert funnily enough. Would have loved to have seen them this year but they'd disappeared off my radar until the Norton Folgate concert was on telly a few months ago.
  • yeh, sorry, I meant this year's Madstock. Must've been the worlds largest concentration of Fezs outside of Cairo.

Would love to get the 1992 one on DVD, had the video once but the player chewed it up. The 1998 DVD doesn't do it for me
  • oh yeh, almost forgot - Paulo Nutini's new album (Sunny Side Up) is pretty darn good as well.

No one's made a good album since Kenickie's 1997 debut, At the Club.

I've always wondered what happened to Lauren Laverne, she was fit.

I'm never quite sure whether albums I buy are from this year or not - often not sure what year it is.

But the albums I've been quite fond of this year have been:

American Doll Posse - Tori amos
That Madness one everyone else seems to have mentioned
    The last Decemberists
    the last Fleet Foxes one
    The latest Morrissey
Dig Lazarus Dig - Nick Cave
    The latest from Jarvis Cocker
anniversary edition of Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys

In need of some new tunes, love getting suggestions.

For me faves of the year:

Florence and the machine, Lungs. Think PJ Harvey mixed with Beth Orton

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz. Breathtaking.

So what have you been loving this year (maybe even whilst riding!)

Lungs for me too - absolutely stonking.

Hombre Loco by Eels as a moderately close second and Kingdom of Rust by Doves 3rd

@ _Brun_ Kenicke were great, in the same mould as Voice of the Beehive (let it bee - brilliant album) assuming you're serious on LL's wherebouts, BBC Radio 6 10am weekdays, possibly still doing the Culture Show on TV too.
