Mines been ordered as soon as they were announced, not long now (fingers crossed!) till it arrives.... Mine will be going in my On-One SS456 for use as a full winter bike. Should be perfect in all the grinding paste of the Peak district.0

At one point I had two Rohloff bikes, a light touring bike used as an all purpose road/tow path bike and a MTB. I liked the Rohloff on the touring bike though seldom needed the lowest gears, but really didn't get on with the one on the MTB and quickly sold it.
On road where you are mostly in the upper gears, the Rohloff is fine but off road the combination of less efficient lower gears, knobbly tyres and draggy mud spoiled it for me. I also found that the shifter cables needed replaced frequently and they are quite time consuming to change.
I ended up selling the other one too because a change of circumstances meant it wasn't getting much use and I doubt if I would get another because the cost is very hard to justify unless you do mega miles.
Maybe the new 11 speed Alfine will be a good compromise, certainly its gear range would be fine for most uses.0
