Don't, whatever you do, buy any shoes that are made in Taiwan. They're w a n k

I heard that Sidi outsource their lower end carbon soled shoes to Taiwan but still make the Ergo 2s in house using their own jigs.

That may be true, but they're made from their own moulds, not from generic ones. Designed in Italy as well.

You are going to make sure you go for the compact version, right? I mean you wouldn't to lash out on the standard 5s only to have a heart attack as soon as you wiggle your toes

With the compacts I don't like the jump down from the Big toe to the Little toe.

But you WILL win the TDF if you go compact.

A size 11 on a compact would be madness IMHO. Size 5 is def the way to go (even if you have to have your toes removed).

...but only if they're available in white ('cos they're the fastest).

I think that a sloping size 5 is the equivalent of a size 11 horizontal.
  • I've just read on CyclingNews that Bradley Wiggins has finally made his mind up about getting some size 6s. He's been using size 7s for the last season, but someone dangled some new size 6s under his nose, and despite the size 7s fitting him very well and helping him all season, he's decided to use the size 6s next season.

Apparently a lot of people are now upset with him and chucking their size 7s in the bin.

It's a risk for Wiggins to make the switch from what is obviously tried and tested for him. There may be compatibility issues with size 6 shoes and size 7 socks resulting in an accidental unclipping on a climb during an important end of season time trial where a medal could be in the offing...

Just a quicky, are Campag size 6's better than Shimano ones or can I be a bit avant guarde and go for Sram.

Nice to see 11s are now the popular vote winner...

    Get the salmon coloured ones.

If your brakes cut out and you need to stop using the Fred Flintstone method, they'll give you better stopping power, especially in the wet.

...just because the 11's are the more popular vote winner, that only means that more people are wrong.
...the carbon in the soles of the 11's is now grown in China, whereas the size 5's are made from pure Umbrian carbon which is (according to unavailable data I heard in the pub once) far superior.

Oh crikey, I hear that Wiggins has failed an out of season doping test. Seems the team doctor allowed him to use some Daktarin (athlete's foot cream) to get used to the new 6 fast. Wiggins of course saying he didn't even know it was in the shoes, yeah right...

the boardman shoes are unbeatable value for money. i think theyve sorted the cleats coming loose in heavy traffic thing.ive read the sole cleating machine wasnt set up properly.if you buy them youl have to know how to put them on yourself as halfords could get them on the wrong foot.most folks arent knowledgeable enough themselves and will have to taken them to their lbs for proffesional installation. that said my local store got them on the right feet.imho they are as well equipped as soles costing 50%more.
