  • Also, could you link me to the white Goodridge cables with the red connectors please that you used for your build, after seeing the pics I'm very tempted 8)

Hi yes I'm very happy with the frame thanks. The duster frame is more xc biased and built for a 100mm max fork so the inbred is more suited to the all round trail riding that i do mostly. I was really pleased with the overall weight too as I went for tried and tested (by me) parts such as bars, seatpost etc. I could have gone for carbon stuff which would have saved a bit more weight but I know I can rely on the kit thats on the bike...

Links to white hose and fittings etc:

    hose connectors

    hose

    gear cables

You'll have to check if the connectors fit your brakes as it says for mono mini, mono m4 etc. I would guess that hope havent changed the fittings though. These hose fittings are way way easier to fit than hope ones as there is no messing about with olives and the like.. They are a bit expensive for what they are though...

Look forward to seeing your p7......eventually ;)

Looks good, but £1250's worth of bits hanging of a £150 frame, you must be mad!

Just because its a good value frame doesn't mean its not a good frame. I think its worthy of the build.

I do fancy building a titanium hardtail at some point in the future so I thought I may as well build it with decent parts then I can always swap them over...
  • may I ask where did you get those tires- I have been trying to get some for myself, for my trek ssl 9.9 '07 Red Carbon

That's an NC-17 - they sell them on CRC

Nice build - you need to line the tyre and rim logos up though 8)

What is really annoying is that the logos on the tyres aren't at the same point on each side of the tyre so its impossible to line them up on both sides of the wheel :(

And yes its NC-17. I got mine from some ebay shop though. Much nicer than black plastic :)

ravey1981 what a beauty, quite literally inspirational.

Tell me did you have any problem fitting those forks? I ask because on-one's website recommends maximum fork of 100mm.

Also how do you find the 18" frame again I'm asking because the web site says 5'10" - 6'1" but the stand over looks very high at 29.5" - I seem to recall.

    Hi there,

I'm not sure which part of the on-one site you looked at but the standard inbred frame (ie not 456 or summer season) is designed to take a 3 to 5 inch fork (90-125mm) Some people report that they find the handling best with a 100mm travel fork. I have the u-turn revelations and have settled on 120mm travel. Of course I have the option of running them at the full 140mm when on steep downhill sections :)

So to answer you're question, I've had no problems at all with the forks.

Also the inbred frames are very compact vertically, the actual BB to top tube measurement is the same as on a 16inch frame from most manufacturers (exactly the same as my brothers Cannondale) so the 18inch frame I have has loads of standover clearance for me (I am 5'9" with 32" inside leg)

I got a 16inch frame to start with but on measuring it up found that the top tube would be too short for me (i prefer a slightly more stretched out position hence the longer stem) and I would need a 400mm seatpost at nearly its full extension. So I sent it back and On-one replaced it with the 18inch for me.

Hope this helps, I can't recommend these frames enough, I love mine.

Many thanks, ordering one now, I just hope mine looks as good as yours when it's finished, top job.

So tell me, do you clean it after every ride

  • Hey Ravey,

Forgot to ask when you directed me to CRC for the Goodridge Gear Cable Kit, was one kit enough for your build as the website says it comes with 2 metres of outer? Is the outer in one piece or 2 x1 metre lengths?

I ask as I see you are running with full outers on both gears, something I want to do on mine also.

Also did you use the inner cable with your XT shifters or did you use the XT inners?

Sorry for all the questions but I want to get it right before I spend the wonga :?

    Da Mighty Chicken

The 'cable kit' has enough outer to to do a standard hardtail (ie not full runs) so i got an extra 2m of outer for my build. I still have some left over though, just have a measure up and see how much extra you need.

Regarding the gear inners i made a complete bollocks of it.....the inners in the kit come in two lengths, that is a front mech inner and a rear one. I didn't bother to check this and put them on the wrong way round hence the rear inner was too short and i used the xt original, no difference really apart from that its now silver instead of black. It makes no difference apart from the fact i know it is wrong :(
