  • I have to say that is soooo nice, always liked the inbreds. If you don't mind me asking how much did i cost too build?

More than I had planned for

Its come in at around the £1400 mark. I've been steadily buying parts over the last 6 months so the wallet hasn't taken too bad a hit. The build was originally going to be a white charge duster frame but there seems to be supply issues on the new charge frames. I decided to change to an inbred frame which actually suited the forks better and was a bit cheaper too...

I am well pleased with how it has turned out :)

  • Very nicely done!

Is it just the way the light is hitting them, or are your front rotors 2-tone?

Just the light, pics are slightly out of focus, was cold this morning when i took camera out and i think the lens steamed up a bit.

Thanks for the comments so far :)
  • Shame, I was going to ask where I could get me a set of those badboys :D
  • That's a great build mate - really liking it

I knew someone was going to mention grips before long

I had thought about white or red grips but went for the WTBs as I have them on my marin and I really like them. Marin also has a WTB pure v saddle.

I wanted the contact points to be the same on both bikes as I'm a bit anal about that sort of thing and it would always be on my mind that it didn't feel the same...

So the grips were the one thing that i didn't colour code (well i kinda did as they are black but you know what i mean)

What travel do you run the forks at?

 Its not for riding....Its for looking at....

It hasn't actually been out yet, I need to put fluid in the brakes yet...

In the pics the forks are at about 120mm. The frames is designed for up to 125mm Although from what I've heard from other owners the frames handle best at around 100mm so I may end up running it at the forks minimum of 110mm

When I get round to sorting the brakes I'll be taking it out and having a mess about with various setups to see what works best for me, I may drop the bars slightly too...

    Cheers :)

    They were from merlin.

A guy on here had them on his Santa Cruz build, I knew I needed some for this project...
  • sir, that is pure bike porn!

if this is the readers rides section mines a red 18" inbred with slot dropouts running singlespeed. spec includes xt disks and crank, hope pro hoops, conti 2.4" king tyres, 140mm fox 32 vanilla rlc fork (beaut!), thompson stem and seatpost, monkeybars and shimano flatties. the purest ride ive had (since 1992 i've been saracen tufftrax to orange p7 through two GT zaskars with 3 different forks and then to my inbred).

i must admit im craving gears a bit, currently having a think about rebuilding kit around a geared cotic bfe, cove handjob etc... im not sure ill ever settle down with one bike! :)

Get some pics up man! I've never really fancied the single speed thing but I know what you mean about fiddling with and building bikes... Its like a habit :)

No sooner have I finished this and I'm eyeing up the new cotic soul frame.... but I'll have to behave myself for a while (well I'm going to get the road bike sprayed and rebuilt over winter...but I wont spend much....)
  • That looks seriously awsome. I have the same frame and am planning my new colour coding as i type :) On the fork front i have 07/08 revos that i run at 130 all the time and the bike handles really well with my 70mm stem. Only on the steepest short sharp tech climbs do i notice any real front end lightness but even then it makes it up without too much trouble even tho im not the smootest rider :D

Great work mate and hope you enjoy it as much as i love mine

    Hey Ravey1981

a singlespeed is fab for flow & fitness but most of all because its so basic it feels like a grownup bmx! also my hope freewheel is so loud its like having a card flicking in the spokes (motorbike stylee) when i was a kid! the whole bike makes me smile.

i must admit i have missed really ragging a bike downhill - with a SS you top out at 40ish but cos you're out of gear you're freewheeling after 25kph which can be a bit frustrating...

but on balance the Inbred frame is a beaut. Its like nothing else ive tried. im not as comfy slamming it around as i was my old zaskar (bulletproof confidence inspiring) and i cant manual on it at all! (unlike my old P7, a super pingy/twangy frame that spent most of its life riding on the back wheel!)... but overall im riding much smoother now...

its a great bike... and now i feel guilty looking at other bikes :D
  • nice build.. my old hartail was white, they look great when clean.
as for those tyres, i want the same for my zesty, just have to wait til spring as they`d be no good in the mud.
    enjoy 8)
    It`s changed a bit since...

  • Hey ravey,

Love the bike mate, really nice :D

Are you happy with the frame as you did not get the Charge?

I really want to get my build finished, looking at yours has made me more anxious to get it done
