Sting is to appear on Newsnight. Jeremy Paxman is going to question him on whether he should look at his own lifestyle before telling us about protecting the environment.

Fair point, I think - Sting also has a f**king ridiculous beard and I hope Paxman tells him so.

OK, fair enough he was talking about protecting the rainforest, not about how he's jetting off to a climate change conference.

Still a f**king ridiculous beard though.

He has a private jet. And a large estate in Wiltshire. I understand he had a 'listed' lodge unfortunately burn down when he was denied permission to remove it from said estate.

Sting: built to make bland music for the middle aged

I'd rather have a tooth out than listen to an album inspired by winter. What a load of tantric, middle of the road, hackneyed bollocks.

Great f*cking looking for his age though. Such a cool looking dude imo.

Ace face in Quadrophenia only he could have played it.

Hang on, Nuggs....I'm 45...migddle-aged......liked The Police, but wouldn't listen to a Sting track now if my life depended on it....... :(

A lot of us 'oldies' still listen, and only listen, to the stuff that we used to when 'we were a lad'......... :D

Love Sting, great songs with lyrics that reflect his childhood and teenage years.
Bit of a wierdo, but so was Elvis, Bob Marley, Ozzy Osbourne. Alice Cooper et al!

Was cold/aloof at MEN in concert. Totally different in Cardiff gig with The Police.

Listening to his music on my iPod, the production values comes over strongly, even though the sounds are "compressed". Other artists sound a bit wishy-washy be comparison.

Front cover of his Winter album is in his "place" in Tuscany.
    Jealous? Me?...

Hey, I'm hip and/or young and I like coldplay, sting (but only with the police), snow patrol and U2.

Anyone talking about the MPG rates of cars can not make any judgements about music.

I used to have a car which returned single figure MPG figures, if that helps?

Anyone who likes Sting (with the Police or otherwise), U2 or any other MOR generic shite cannot make any judgements about who is and who isn't qualified to make judgements about music.

How about a large Le Cruset griddle pan, get the correct heat perfect.

However he is the sanctimonious bastard who sacked his chef for getting pregnant.

Come on Paxman, go for the juggular.

When I saw Bob live in Cardiff, he wasn't just on the beer, if you know what I mean!
I think that various artist have the individual characteristics, making them "different" to us "normal" people.
I didn't mean weird in a bad way, but different, as he helped promote politics, race relations, religion and spiritual harmony..whatever colour you were. His music/ethics live on.

Stings individualism isn't a weakenss, but a strength. Makes him a "target" too.
He's not perfect - who is? - but his music is varied, International and sells.

He's a bit like Bono, not in looks or anything. More in the irritating @rsehole bit.

I have sat here for 2 minutes or so & can think of absolutely nowt I like about Sting. His voice, his clobber, the way he holds his bass, his hurdy-gurdy use of old instruments, boilersuits, shite faux reggae, his mate with a plate in his gob, his name, p-diddy...

Bugger he was Ace Face....& Feyd in Dune....

    Mostly Sting is a tw@t.

agree with all of that, but the very early Police stuff was very catchy, eg can't stand losing you, roxanne. the two police gigs I've been to were terrible, 3min songs dragged out to ten min.

from where I'm sitting, I can see the street where Sting used to live, Station Road in Wallsend, still divvent like him though

he recently hoyed his two penneth in to the St James name fiasco, doubt he's ever been there

No mate, I meant myself having a thick attack, not you. Apologies for the confusion, didn't mean to offend, sorry if I did. :(
  • I thawed a bit toward Sting a couple years ago when he said something like, "I know I used to say Tantric techniques meant I could make love for 8 hours but I forgot to mention that included dinner, a movie and a few hours of pleading."

    Sting is a bell end.
    Bono is worse.
    I've got an estate car.
    I like Snow Patrol.
    Coldplay are lame.
I have a(nother) car which (if I'm enthusiastic with the loud pedal) will do 100miles on £20 of petrol !
    I'm 37.

Oh........ and Girls Aloud are my dirty little secret

No, no offence, I just thought that maybe I'd accidentally insulted you. Glad to know that's not the case.
