How much weight do you plan to put on over Xmas so you will stay motivated to train hard through January and get it off again?

I'm not going to eat anything. I'm going to my parents and my mum has a habit of cutting raw chicken and then using the same dirty knife & chopping board to serve everyone a nice piece of Christmas Cake.

If I do happen to overeat in her house I expect to get very bad stomach problems thereafter and can guarantee I'll have lost any Christmas excess by the middle of January without doing any exercise.

I am hoping to avoid the 18 pound weight gain I managed last November and December.

Plan to eat and drink (and ride) as normal, Xmas lunch will be a Turkey instead of a roast meat joint. There will undoubtedly be more chocolate in the house (why does everyone think that a tin of Quality Street is a good idea), but the wife and kids will take care of that. Should mean zero weight gain :-)
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

is it me - or is that objective slightly self-defeating....?

I plan to lose 10 pounds or more over Christmas. Depending on what time frame you are talking about!
  • Eat what you want and ride lots, simple. Xmas is no time for denying yourself things you like! 8)
  • I'm worried cos I'm off to the States for 2 weeks!!! I'm going to be working really hard in saying no to fatening stuff! I might hire a bike and head off into the Marin Hills for few hours or a bit of hiking.

I'm doing the xmas cracker sportive on the 13th December then plan on a weeks hard training in the leadup to xmas to lose about 3 or 4 pounds, which should give me a bit of a buffer over xmas and boxing day. Training will resume on the 27th :)
