Here in n.ireland it was freezing cold today(saturday) . I donned my gore full bib , under armour base layer, giordana wind proof jacket and thinsulate gloves ( as well as helmet and riding glasses obviously ) and it was bitter.
As i rode along , i could see my breath in front of me for the entire journey of 38 miles ,which I completed in an average of 18.3 mph.I didnt do any more as it was just too cold to be honest. I was asking myself "why the hell am I doing this ? " especially when my indoor bike is in the living room .
After the ride was complete, it was underlined that indoor training and outdoor road biking are galaxies apart. If you aint got a good movie to watch or a funny show , then the indoor riding can be a smidgeon boring , but when its chucking down rain outside, then it is a godsend. Was it bitter were you live today and did you go out ?

I was out at 7 this morning and it was not too cold but rained for most of the 1:40 I was out(only 20 miles at 11.6 average, but the first time I have done that distance as I am just building up). Waterproofs and gloves held up well but my feet were a bit damp by the time I had finished. It has turned cold here this evening though

Are you a relation to willhub?
No, but the force is strong with him. I sense something. A presence I've not felt since...0 -

Scorching here in South Wales. I went over to the dark side and did a duathlon, no gloves and only two layers and even then sweating like a pig.0

Snow on most mts in the North, even as low as 1,000ft we got sleet/hail.
Did 1.5 hrs yesterday, with 5 x 6 min hill repeats. Quite a lot of standing water in the back lanes. Very cold but dry, breezy. Feet numb at end!!!
Head cold today, but was building up last week.0 -
Bloody cold up north scotland too, just back from a 50, we got nailed by wind and hailstones for the first hour, cleared up after that though 8)0

Did a quick 25 mile roadride in the dales yesterday and weather was fine. Base layer, gore jacket and bib tights with gloves. Nice and toasty would have picked a longer route if I'd known how nice it was going to be.
Went out on the mtb today - There was a hell of a lot of water on the ground! Had to navigate a few deep floods and was actually pedalling with my feet submerged in water at one point. Bit chilly but makes the Sunday roast all the nicer0 -
Constant cold rain and cold wind yet again. Chocolate river was burst in several places across the road. Abandoned cars in two feet of water blocking the roads today and last two weeks, has been a common sight on one stretch of road where it dips into valleys. Had to pick up bike and wade in three places. Fresh river water sure is cold. Found it warmer to ride in shorts than wet tights.
Did 62 miles in 4 hours and only saw one cyclist the whole journey, he sneeked up behind me and said "We are mad to be out in this." I replied. "This has been normal for me."
3 in 1 waterproof jacket kept me warm but didn't realise how cold it was until body sweat turned ice cold when i stopped. I need to get a merino wool base layer soon, and maybe some over trousers.
I be surprised if we don't have more floods.0 -
Did 81 miles, from Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury and back via Ironbridge, watched a bit of the cyclocross. Cold drizzle towards the end of the ride, but nowhere near as bad as the forecast on Metcheck. Don't know why I bother checking the forecast really, may as well just stick a few layers on, take a waterproof, and see what happens. Didn't feel that cold anyway.0

I was around Ruthin, never stopped raining all day. Took me ages to warm up once I got home.0 -
Saturday was a belter in the lakes... 5 degrees, snow on top of skiddaw, gorgeous. Got 2 hrs 15 in with a 30min Aerobic Threshold interval in to keep me warm (that and my Etxeondo 3 in 1 hat, best winter buy ever!)"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Did 4 hours including puncture, my feet took about 2 hours to warm up afterwards.0 -
It's not even winter yet, what you all winging about?
Managed 60 steady miles but it belted it down for the first 20mins and then was pretty windy. Not really cold though. Saw a couple of guys in shorts and plenty without gloves, but I was snug.0 -

We never saw any one around, wouldn't have thought anyone else would have been stupid enough to go out.
I even thought it looked like it was brightening up at 9am so I went out on my bike without mudguards.0 -
