The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Gold caps on the brakes and fork started the gold bits.

It now has a gold headset, brake levers, seatpost qr, hubs and bb too.

In my sig it's single speed and also has a gold bmx chain.

  • been watching this thread for the last few days while fitting gold bits to my bike and laughing like a madman - just waiting on gold rotors to finish it off, also has gold head set spacers and skewers - oh and its all on an Orange.....thats white........so some people on the forum will have at least X3 reasons to hate this bike

It takes quite a few miles before the gold wears through from pad contact - but they do look super bling

  • after a weekend of serious abuse - although only 25 miles or so offroad in wet sandy soil conditions the gold is on its way out over the braking surface.......... but they work well if not a little more noisy than the avid rotors.

    Ta - here's another pic :)

Still can't decide - anyone got any pics with the gold floaters? They look a bit yellow rather than gold in pics I've seen.
  • Oh Bu@@er!

Just ordered my new bike, and I have plumpted for a gold handlebar!

The frame is deep metallic purple with gold lettering etc, so I just wanted to pick that gold up and repeat it a few times. So bars and chain, and probably pedal springs on the eggbeaters when I get them.

So I'm worried by everyone who said that any big bits are too much.

I'm reassured by the comments that deep dark colours work well with gold.

But like jonnyc2420, there will be so many other things to upset people, I'm not to fussed! I think I'm going to love it, it's my bike, so I don't really mind what others think. But as the sig says, it will be the ultimate marmite bike!
