Hi names Ashley,
5 weeks ago on saturday i came off my bike whilst on a training ride at 30 odd mph, the result of this meant that i ended up with a clean brake on both my radius and ulner just above the wrist. Ihad it pinned, i was told by the orthopedic surgeon that i will be getting both the cast and pins out in a weeks time and beginning physio. i have been on my turbo trainer pretty much everynight for the past 3 weeks, i was just wondering how long it took for people with similar breaks for the to get back training again? i would like to get back asap really but i know i will probably struggle to put wait on my wrist at first with it being immobilised for a month and a half.
thanks for your time Ashley.
P.S it was my first day out on my new ribble that i fell off, you can get some speed up on them

Ride hard, then get some rest, and go out and do it all again!

I broke my scaphoid a while back and the doctors told me it would be at least 2 months before I could ride again. They didn't pin it, just put it in a cast (I believe if it has been pinned you can start using it again sooner).
However within 2 days I was fed up of walking to work so was back on the bike 1 handed with only 3 gears (front chainrings) It wasn't proper training, just 5 mile rides in the morning with a few hills in them to keep me going.
Cars certainly gave me a wider berth when I had a bright red cast on.0 -
I've broken the radius on both my arms at different occasions, and both times had to have a plate put in which had to be left in for almost a year.
I could start riding out on the road with the plate about 2 months after the break and the plate being put in. And I could start riding the road about a month after the plate was removed. In both cases, I did competitive racing after about 3 months.0
