another update - sub4 blue blackspire pedals, chromag fubar acute (710mm?) 700mm though thats what crc says 31.8mm black bars with chromag ranger stem 50mm x 31.8mm. & a chromag qr seatpost clamp. liking the quicker steering.

got some gusset slim jim xl pins for my blackspire sub4 pedals. even tho blackspire said longer pins would not provide more grip and they had testing to back that but i wanted to find out for myself. so put the hex pins with a bit of loctite 243 on and yea definitely felt more grippy with my five ten freeriders.

  • Can't find the L blue frame anywhere, I think only in January with the new XC130 :(

yep did a quick google search a lot of 42cm frames left and a full bike with a 19.5 " frame on ebay. tho if you do find the frame your lookin for, do call them to make sure they actually have it in stock.
  • Looking quite nice man!

What's the weight like, and how are the lights going?

rough guestimate. standing on digi scales then with bike and deducting. the bike is 26 lbs.
lights are still good, dont get as much use as they should. loving the hope pro2 hubs.

    spot the difference
steering column chopped a bit so kept a 20mm spacer underneath the stem. gone over to the dark side, got crank bros candy clippy pedals and a pair of maxxis highrollers to try out.

    nice ! :)
  • Lovely colour man!

How are you liking the eggbeaters so far? I was thinking of getting the TI ones to shed weight from the bike, but not sure how they ride.

theyre the candy 3engagement with cleat is so subtle, sometimes id pull the foot up to make sure im actually clipped in. its got 3 degrees of float either side which so its good enough. still tryin to get the correct cleat alignment but itll just take awhile to get used to. wouldnt want to spend £340 or even £260 on a pair of pedals.
  • looks beautifull. How are you getting on with the highrollers?
I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

looking good bob, i really do think the xc120 is quite possibly the best trail hardtail around for the money, fantastic bike :D

How do you find the formula brakes? Im seriously considering them for my hardtail.
Are yours the 2009 or the MY10 model?

like lawman said plenty of room, most of the mud tends to collect in and around the front mech.

only one ride out on them
theyre hard work on the steep climbs but fun going on the descents, mainly for loose gravel. tho some complaints about the large gap between the centre and shoulder knobs, that i havnt found out.

theyre 2009. im using a Hope Disc Mono Mini/M4 6bolt rotor on the rear which seems to have bedded in nicely. formula "the one" are possibly overkill for trail riding as they are really meant for dh.

was bought from crc as an oem set so it seemed a good deal at the time. really nice progressive bite, so theyre a bit squeezy but all good if you like that sort of thing, & being italian passion they are quite expensive compared to hope, avid & shimano. tho if you really want formula check their official site shop or shop around.

yer the mud collects like a b!tch around the front mech, you have to use a low clamp, as the bottle cage bolts are where a high mount mech would sit, although thinking about it, when i first built mine about 4 years ago i was using a triple, but have now gone to a double, with a smaller bigger ring ... so maybe a high mount would work with a double chainset if you use something like a 38t big ring, although the xc130 has no bolts on the seat tube, eliminating this problem as well as being able to fully drop the seat

    *goes off and investigates*

Hope M4 aren't overkill at all, I was under the impression that they were trail brakes, X2s were XC brakes and V2s were the monster downhill brakes.

lawman - yep was thinking about the double chainring setup a bit tho must do some investigating. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/article/workshop-how-to-convert-your-mountain-bike-to-1x9-or-2x9-gearing-29342?CPN=RSS&SOURCE=BRGENHOME saw the xc130 at kinesis site visually couldnt tell the difference apart from the livery.

sorry getonyoubike, slight typo there. the brakes are formula but im using a hope rotor on the rear.
