You say you have Ti-bolts on your brake set. You could also get the adjustment spacer and washer in Titanium too. I got the for my XX brakes.

Oooh, I like those. Are they the stock XX ones or available as an upgrade?

Also some Power Corz cable for your shifters. Works well with your XTR setup. I have them on my Scalpel

I’ve been looking at those, but not found any decent reviews yet. Do they stretch over time?

Maybe your brake rotors too. I'm not 100% sure but what does your rotors weigh?

The standard Avid G3 ones at 97g each.

Be interested to know if the Recon cassette does work!

I had it on my Scalpel but I couldn't get it to work. I try so many new chains with it. The shifting/gear change was awful, also it kept skipping all the time. Maybe because I'm a big guy and the Recon Cassette was just too soft for me.

    Is that the Ti one?

    Mine's completely Alloy:

  • Wow, it's amazing how much of a weight weenie you are!

Some of those parts are stupidly light!

The new looking, shiney black chainstay needs a really heavy chainstay protector.

    Or helicopter tape ?

Or will it never be ridden anyway ?

edit - You could have part of the chainstay polished, bare metal but it would look a bit Kona-ish then.

I had Power Cordz and thought they were crap, the coating is too thin, the first time you clamp them it splits, so adjusting them is very difficult. I used them with Grip Shift shifters, so there was no performance advantage, would maybe consider them with trigger shifters. I had one snap too. More hassle than they're worth.

I've seen it split but never seen or heard of them snap. Did you tight the adj.screws too much?
They don't work well with XX. I have it only on my F.D (Flash) Always to much adjustment with the R.D. However they seem to work well with my XTR set (Scalpel). I guess XX has a stronger, sharp trigger feel.

You have now! To be fair I think it was in part the I-links I was using them with, the end of the liner wore the cable and eventually cut through it. Only lasted a couple of months, wasn't particularly impressed.

Hmm, I have I-links... Think I may pass on this for the NRS, but might give them a go on the XTC, which has grip-shift and Goodridge outers/liners.

The thicker ones have a much tougher coating, so they should be fine. Don't feel any different with Grip Shift though, no smoother.

Yes. They've done lots of work for me in the past and have always been first class.

Actually, no, there's not flex in the frame. It's one of the reasons I waited so long for an NRS frame to come up for sale on fleabay. The frame acts like a hardtail - so no pedal bob or suspension movement until you need it on the more gnarcore stuffs.

And yes, it is a wippet on the climbs...

more thinking about the cranks and wheels.

Jumped on a mates 26-27pound Blur LT the other days and pooped myself when i tried to rail a corner thought I was gonna bend a wheel lol. But i have the fear of braking things mind. still could have done with light weight this yesterday.
6 weeks off the bike and first ride back i was sooooo slow :s my hour round cwm is dead for a few months till i get fit enough to pedal my fatty bike lol.

Not really ridden it in anger yet, so can't comment how it will react, however from the few rides I've done, everything seems pretty solid.

That happened with me as well, was hard trying to get used to the extra weight I had with my new bike when I got it. Now it's not too bad, and have some lighter wheels coming, so perfect!

I was just thinking about buying a new Hardtail to get me back into MTBing... I haven't looked at my old NRS1 for absolutely ages, and seemed to have forgotten how nice it was.
Your post has made me think again, as to whether I should replace it, or pimp the f*ck out of it...
