Not particularly a massive name signing, but I'd love to see Johnny Hoogerland sign for Sky, I thought he was fantastic towards the end of this season. Would certainly bring a bit of excitement to the team.

But I have to agree that CVV, Sastre or Cunego seem the most likely - out of the big names (perhaps CW have put this in as a red herring, and it's just a rider with a really long name!).

Hasn't Cunego been touted at joining Sky for most of the season anyway?

Jens Voigt would be an inspired signing. Although I don't think that will happen.

Personally I would LOVE the Schleck brothers to sign up. That way i could support my favourite rider (A Schleck) and a British pro team at the same time :D

Sky's biggest problem in trying to produce a GB Tour winner is that out of the undoubted young talent they have signed the most likely to succeed isn't British!

It’s been a long road back for Tom Danielson, the rider once considered the next big thing. The American tells BikeRadar how he’s finally got his confidence back heading into the Vuelta a España.

    Hmmm

Considering his alledged nickname in the peloton, I think this is highly unlikely...

  • Ahhh interesting, a quick google reveals he has a naturally high testosterone apparently. Learn something new every day.

Alledgedly - Johnny Testerone(y) - He had a run in with the authorities when he was on the Rabo development squad.

Also, the team doctor from his team quit during the Vuelta as he was apparantly not happy with what was happening. This is the team that gave Clement L. a ride this year despite not even Fuji Servetto being brave enough to go near him.

that's disappointing. Suppose it was too good to be true.
  • I'm getting a bit concerned that it's another false dawn.
We haven't had a serious rumour from anywhere.
Not even Omerta can manage that.

i hope its not actually a gc rider but someone who can excite, just dont know who they can sign.
  • From Cycllingnews in 2001 to back up Iain's comment.
The Rabobank team has sacked one of its junior riders after he returned a positive drugs test. Johnny Hoogerland (18) was controlled positive in the Trofee van de Provincie Antwerpen on August 11 for having a too high testosterone/epitestosterone ratio. Hoogerland maintains that he hasn't taken anything, and will undergo tests to see whether he has a naturally high level of testosterone in his body.

I (google) translated something from Dutch last night and through the appalling translation it seemed to say that after tests at a clinic in Cologne he was found to have a naturally high testosterone.

I think Bradley Wiggins has signed.
I just saw him leave Manchester Velodrome with Dave Brailsford with a Pinarello Bike and a Sky Dish and Box!!!

The Team Sky twitter page had a comment this morning about looking out for announcements. It now has a link to the guardian article.

It is getting rather silly now, why not just announce the other riders?

I've got a bet of a cake riding on them signing Wiggins.

Come on Brad - this is important - please sign !

There must be some hope for Sky - clearly they havent been told to just **** off and stop bothering Garmin !

    No it was a mistake!
He had a Pinarello, and the Sky Box but when Dave Brailsford went to the boot of his car he was all out of Sky Dishes.

No just the Standard Box, but it's written into his contract though than he will get a HD Box if he wins the Tour!

Who's handling their press announcements? The Sky box installers?

"We'll have a press conference on Wednesday"

"We were going to have a press conference , but we got delayed on a previous call. We'll announce on Thursday"

"Sorry, we did call a press conference on Thursday but, errrm, there was no-one there?"

"We'll definitely announce on Friday. Saturday at the latest. If we don't make Saturday, how about next Tuesday"

Me? I hope it's Malcolm Elliot, signed for a free subscription to G.O.L.D. and a sunlamp.

And I hope he's bringing Tony Capper with him.
