So come on, own up, who's breaking the deadly sins? Give us your protocols.
I started off with the gold standard a 25 mile tt. I also found at roughly the same time that the 40 min uphill part of my commute (if done hard) pretty much matched that value. I also found that if I do 3x20 up a hill where I do the first one as hard as possible, then the average of the second and third also gave me the same figure.
Here's the link to Alex's blog where he talks about the sins.:-

Hope you don't mind Alex?

While you're at it, there is a follow up to that post which highlights some of the pitfalls/mistakes made when testing for/estimating FTP:

Thanks Alex, I hadn't seen that one.
I'm trying to nail my protocol down and this jumps out (sin 3)
'Examples of consistency might include:
<see link:- http://alex-cycle.blogspot.com/2009/07/ ... ftp-2.html (sin 3)>
and I think I'm pretty much there in that I've got all of them ticked.0 -
I used my turbo, following the test as set in 'Training and Racing with a Power Meter'...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0

I used breath x breath gas analysis.0
