Have ordered this today, needed a flashing front light and an extra rear is always a good thing:

Front and rear for less than the normal price of the rear :D
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos
  • Ay-Up with the red saxon cap on it. 380 lumens of rear light

  • +1 for the smart superflash 1/2 watt (the one with the clear circular window)

The flashing mode is good enough to use in the daytime.
    ... and no idea ...

Those smart lights are all very weel but what if you cannot use your seat post for mounting due to a saddle bag? Also my seat stays are triangular in cross section so more difficult for mounting there too. Got a couple of the Tesco mini LEDs on my helmet. Plan on getting a Smart 35Lux front light to go with the Tesco mini white LEDs on the front. Just need something a bit bigger and brighter for the rear. Any help ? :)

Does your saddlebag have a light loop? Or cable tie/velcro strap to your helmet?

    This makes me laugh.

As repeated x too many, the smart superflash 1/2 watt is the class leader for price/performance/size.

At £8 on offer at wiggle, just fill yer boots and be happy.
  • OK after two months of constant use in all weathers of using two Smart 7 LED Rear Light £5.00 from CRC, which is these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=14821

I am now decidely saying, that they are CRAP!

Yes they bright and can be seen from the side, but one big letdown - Rubbish waterproofing!

Because once they get wet they will malfunction evermore, even after been dried out. Also the plastic flexes inwards where the buttons are, which makes the buttons malfuinction. To turn off, i had to remove the batteries. Highly annoying.

They turn off just from heavy road spray. After this i put epoxy glue around the internal plastic seal. They still turned off. I prevented them turning off from water by taping completely around the outside seal. This worked but is annoying to have to remove tape each time to take out battery. This worked fine for a few weeks until the buttons malfunctioned.

Do not buy. Instead buy the 1/2 watt Smart as suggested by others in this thread for alittle more.

These lights are too annoying even at the cheap price. Put your money into something else. Whatever you get, just make sure it got good waterproofing.

The name is ever so slightly ridiculous, but I got a Niterider CherryBomb recently from Condor and that thing kicks out alot of light. Not sure what the output is but they claim visibility up to a mile away. Whatever - it is very bright!

I went for the full on Night Rider effect with the Cateye TL-LD1100 10 LED Light . It is very bright and has lots of light patterns to choose from, I go for the bottom lights on steady and the top lights to flash randomly. Works very well indeed

The 1/2 watt is probably the same construction - plastic halves sealed by a soft plastic gasket. Water does get in and changes the setting - either turning a fixed light off or a flashing light into fixed mode! You then need to take the batteries out, dry the light on a radiator - after a while it will be fine again. Refit batteries and assemble with some petroleum jelly either side of the gasket.
