  • Ordered a Ribelle 3 weeks ago but received an e-mail saying it was out of stock.

I was offered the Nero or Gran Fondo as alternative. I was told the Fondo is basically a 2010 version of the Ribelle and is a Deda frame.

Pleased about that as i prefer the look of the Fondo and was able to upgrade from Centaur to Athena for the same price

yeah they said when I was in that they were expecting the frames next week so your should be pretty soon - very nice!
  • so has anyone else seen/received one yet as i remember people saying they were going along to the shop/warehouse?

as per typical ribble i had no reply to an email i sent, what i really am itching to know is whether the saddle and stem are white or black as both are available in either colour.

With Ribble they'll fit what you like / have in stock. Popped into the warehouse / showroom the other day - Gran Fondo does look nice. If you're worried about warranties, pay a premium for a Trek / Specialized / Cannondale - but it still came out of a big shed in Taiwan.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Would be interested to hear whether the Gran Fondo frame bears any Dedacciai stickers or not- they don't claim it IS a Deda frame- they just say it is 'developed with the assistance of Dedacciai' , which is not the same thing.
Bizarrely though it has exactly the same geometry as the old Deda Ribelle frame.
    A Chinese copy?
  • Awaiting delivery of mine -frames were due in to the shop yesterday and building starts next week. Not sure whether or not it has stickers on it but i have an e-mail from Ribble saying it is a Deda frame.
  • Collected mine on Saturday - it looks great BUT waiting for this damned rain to stop. It does have the Dedacciai logo on it and Ribble were as good as their word once they got the frames in stock.
  • yeah i had mine few days ago and its gorgeous, tiny deda decals and huge ribble ones lol note the sig

Went to have a look at one a couple of weeks ago and it does have some deda stickers on the seat stays. Was told no more small and med in stock till mid feb. Rang up to stick a deposit on one last week and was told they would be back in mid jan and they were ordering a couple hundred frames as they had totaly mis judged demand first time round! Fingers crossed should have mine by the end of jan!!! Can't wait!!!

FWIW, I have a Sportive frame from earlier in the year. I have hardly ridden it due to a combination of the weather (use the other bike) and a slipping seatpost. Turns out they have had some problems with frames being over-reamed (Monty Dog, you were right!) so I have to send it back for a replacement. I should say here that Ribble were very good at communication (via e-mail) and offered a replacement foc as soon as I stated the problem. They are even going to collect, re-build and re-deliver to me. Very good service and very happy.

I discussed the option of getting a GF instead. I think it looks nicer but it is
    a. heavier
    b. has an alu steerer on the fork rather than the all carbon of the Sportive and
    c. has a lower front end than the Sportive.

So I opted to go with another Sportive (that way I don't need to buy new forks too).

Also, for anyone wondering if the GF is the Ribelle, here is what to do. Go to the Ribble site and look up the GF. Click on the Geometry tab. Minimise the little table that comes up. Then go to the Ribelle and click on the Geometry tab. Then alternate between the two tables. They are EXACTLY the same, bar the little logo in the corner. So it is the same frame and is (as stated above Deda).

    Cheers,
    Col.
  • So why do they differ in price? The Ribelle is over £100 more expensive. This doesn't make sense to me, especially if they are indeed the same frame. Surely Ribble would want to shift its Ribelle stock, what with it's already dated decals, before undercutting it on price terms with the Gran Fondo.

Can someone explain this madness to me?!
  • yes it is the ribelle frame, that i can confirm

point about being heavier...you wont notice without a set of scales GF is very light. also it is quite low at the front, but the stem is a reversible one so if too low, you fit it upside down and it raises the bars a good 20mm

    Hello,
New member thinking of buying a Ribble and like the look of the Gran Fondo. Nothing posted since November last year wondered if anyone out there had bought one and had something to add.
    Thanks.
  • i got mine near the end of november, was one of the first few to recieve and i thought it was brilliant, any negative points made in this thread were mostly rubbish and unfounded. the frame is very light and very solid. i stripped many of the parts from mine and my other bike inherited them so i could get a few higher spec bits and bobs. i posted pics somewhere but there are a few other more recent threads by other people who have theres now.

  • There is a couple in the check out my ride bit.
  • Got an email from Ribble on Friday, Gran Fondo frames are back in stock, and they asked me if I still wanted one. :) Problem being, they emailed me EARLY last week to say that I could only have the GF frame and fork if I bought it as a complete bike, as the frames are in short supply. :( Now they say I can have a frame :?

Between their first and second emails I had gone and bought a Spesh Roubaix F+F instead 8)
