New ride arrived today.
Threw on an orange roller I had lying around, got some other bits arriving when the posties sort their act out.
Needs a stiffer spring fitting too. Very good condition for it's age though.
Also took delivery of my new TLD helmet.

nice, are you getting more into dh now?

i'm getting my new bike at xmas:D

  • Yep, I thought I'd give it a try, my riding was edging more that way anyway and I was starting to test the limits of the Pinnacle. If I get into it, I'll splash out of a full-on DH beast in the new year.

What bike are you getting HQ?

Just fitted some orange chainring bolts and orange headset spacers today.

Was hoping the rest of my stuff would be here, but blasted Royal Fail are dragging their heels.

    Waiting for:

    White bars
    Orange (yes orange) stem
    New stiffer spring
    Orange bar plugs
Black grips with orange lock-rings (might have to wait a while for these as wiggle are not due to get them in for another week or so).

Thinking I might order a white bash guard, maybe change the white V8s that came with the bike for some Orange Wellgo MG1s. OR, I might order an orange bash and keep the white pedals.
I might also decide to add a second orange roller when I'm done, not convinced it looks right with 1 orange and 1 black.
Also toying with the idea of EVENTUALLY swapping the X-7 mech and X-9 shifter for some X-0 orange stuff.

(have you guessed what the colour theme is yet?)

Currently resisting the urge to swap that chainset for a saint double. Have to keep reminding myself it's not meant to go up hills.

Oh, I'm also waiting on an adaptor so that my shock pump will work with Marzocchis retarded inverted valve system. Bloody Italians

I'm guessing the two seatpost QRs are because it's a telescopic post.
  • 10 points for yeehaa. Telescopic post indeed, although it's not being very telescopic at the moment, seems to be stuck

  • is that telescopic post homemade or something then? I guess that's only needed due to the interrupted seat tube?

why get a home-made one when you can just buy one? much less hassle.
  • It's a commencal one, I assume it came with the bike. Got it working again now :D
  • what stopped it working? is it not just a post inside another post?
  • pretty much yeh, it was stuck. Think it had just not been moved for a long time, came free easy enough though.

    These:

and a white E:13 bash I bought off Ben

Not going to be to everyones taste, but I like it :P
  • not sure about that fireeye stem, what bars are those? i've got white spank spike 777's and they are really sweet looking, yours are more understated I like it.
  • lol, that Fire Eye stem is fkn mahoosive, makes the Easton Vice stem look weedy. I think that's probably going to be the most controversial bit I have on there (well, that and the saddle, which is also Fire Eye oddly enough).

The bars are FSA Maximus 710mm with a 40mm rise. I looked at the Spank Lounge Bars and the 777s, but I'm coming off 560mm Flat bars and thought they might have just felt a bit too wide.

I also tried my pressure suit on today with helmet, kneepads, shin pads etc. First thing my little girl (3) said was "Daddy, daddy, daddy! you look like Spiderman!"

    Awesome!

That's priceless, I get what you mean about the bars, but I have 677 on my XC bike so not a huge jump for my 'play Oh my god did I just jump, drop, gap that thing' bike.

You gonna get some action shots of it?
  • I'm sad to say it's not even been ridden yet. First was waiting for the new spring, then when that arrived yesterday, I seem to have developed deady man-flu. Back to work tomorrow too. Probably going to be Sunday before I get out on it now. Still, should give me chance to fit all the new bits.
Bought some new tyres last night, a Muddy Mary for the front and an Al Mighty for the back. Both 2.5.
The E:13 bash I got off Ben arrived this morning, now fitted, complete with orange chainring bolts.

sweet ride mate, looks tasty

I'll have you know I've now ridden it 3 times. Once to work yesterday, once home from work yesterday and once more to work this morning  (I know its sacriledge, but I had to get out on it and this is the only way I could do it).

Whilst it is obviously much more bouncy than the Pinnacle, I was quite surprised at how well it pedals. I was expecting an almost pogo-stick like ride. Clearly, it's not a road bike though.

I'm heading up to the local DH runs on Sunday morning at about 7am.

Unfortunately, It looks like I'm stuck with the DMR moto digger on the back and high roller on the front because Muddy Mary and Al Mighty have been delayed and will now probably not be here until Monday.

Also, I'm having trouble with the guy I bought my new bars off (Ebay). I bought them 8 days ago. They still have not been shipped and he's not replying to my emails
Until I receive the new bars, I cant fit the new stem, grips and plugs, meaning I cant sell the old bars stem, grips and plugs.
  • They do ride surprisingly well, small amount of bob when sitting down but it's never bothered me. I reckon you'll love it on the dh runs, it'll come to life there for sure.

I have a slightly older model that is currently in bits until I get replacement shock, BB and mech hanger to get it running again, anyone have a spare few hundred quid?
  • I now have to make my most shocking revelation to date.

I have booked her in to the LBS tomorrow.
Reason: I need the M4 bleeding

I know it's dead easy to do, I have all the stuff to do it, and even have some DOT fluid from my old Juicy Bleed kit. It's not that I can't do it, I just cant find the time and if I'm REALLY REALLY honest, I can't be ars*d.

Anyway, speaking to guy at LBS, he says he'll do it for me tomorrow afternoon. If I bring down my own fluid it'll cost me £10. I can live with that.

£10 is not bad, even though it's easy it's still a faff, and if you did do it yourself you would really of had to buy new DOT fluid as it's not advised to used Fluid where the bottle has been opened for any length of time.

oh really? I'd not heard this. Thanks for letting me know.

Do you know what a "length of time" may be? This has been open for about 5 months I think. Sealed inside a resealable plastic bag.
  • The e13 looks top in there :)

Cracking frame btw... is it more slopestyle?
