New shoes, readjust saddle height?

I have gone from a cheap pair of Spez. shoes and SPD pedals, to a nice new pair of Specialized BG S-Works shoes with SPD-SL pedals.
I took them out for the 1st time at the weekend and it didn't feel as comfortable or as smooth as my old set-up.
I have slightly re-adjusted the cleats, so they match the position of my old set-up.
I was just thinking that the saddle may now need to be re-adjusted due to the difference in thickness of the soles?? Thoughts?

The stack height between SPDs and SPD-SLs is different - will need a change in saddle height, almost certainly. I noticed it on my fixie going from Look deltas to SPDs - but I can't remember which is taller stack height (I'd guess SPDs are higher than the road style ones, so I'd go with you needing to drop the saddle a smidge)
Whatever change you make, make it a small one - ride, see how you feel, then adjust again if needs be.
Don't make a massive change (it won't be a massive change anyway - we're talking mm not cm!)Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0 -
I am getting the feeling I need to raise it slightly. Will keep you posted.0

Your old SPD cleats were flush with your sole, your new SPD-SL cleats will be proud of your sole, so you will have to raise your seat post.
The thickness of your new soles will affect this, too.
Basically, you need to raise +/- 10mm... Happy tinkering...
Good luck, mate.Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0
