They were always pretty good with me, did you offer them a really low price for the honour of sorting your forks , you'll be getting emails .It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
I got a pair of Vanilla R 140mm QR15 for my surge, and they have made the bike feel a lot more alive than having the 150mm Z150's and I was at first slightly worried about downsizing on the front end, but its made a world of difference, I'd highly recommend running the Surge with 140mm forks, and for £295 they're a pretty good deal aswell....

They're light for a 140mm fork. The only other fork I'd think about using on the Surge now is either a PIKE 454 or a Fox 36 (have it lowered to 140mm).
I know you have tried running yours at 140mm and didn't like it, but with the fox's at 140mm I find the bike handles far better, feels a lot snappier and works better.
Its surely worth a consideration??0 -

well i'm actually thinking about "downgrading" the bike atm anyways.
I've been loving the bike at 115mm forks around the streets
I'm tempted to wack some SLX kit on there (double crankset, shifters and derailleurs) and upgrade another bike.0 -
Fixed it!!
I was out measuring my steerer and thought, feck it i'll strip them down again.
This time I completely took the forks apart cleaned everything relubed and re oiled (as per the SRAM instructions).
I have a feeling that the bottom bolt was loose in the oil side leg, so when the forks were compressed things were moving around!
Anyways, they're back to being as plush and noise free as ever, and almost look new!0 -
The fork equivilant of switching off and back on again . Sometimes easier to do a complete strip and rebuild rather than spend hours chasing down the problem. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
