I am off to Maspalomas Gran canaria in a couple of weeks - Can anyone give me an indication as to the type of rides I can expect? Is it windy like Lanzarote? Any local advice re bike hire etc/

    Puerto Rico was my venue. Mtb rides were done from there. I had to go thro the town centre, then a steep road ( which is on the right of the town when you look from the sea.)
    This then becomes a rocky loose road/track and goes off into the desert/hills.
    Mostly jeep type road, some singletrack, but this was always with cactus etc.
    Took my own bike, was no hassle at all.

    Just be careful if you use the same way back. The descent passes a hotel, with topless German ladies, swimming and showering. I almost crashed!!!!

    Center of the island is amazing, REALLY steep roads, looks like the Grand Canyon.
    Take the guided bus trip, but wear brown underpants as the roads are a bit "dodgy"...
