Proskurin says they will not release riders under contract.
They are Contador, Popovych, Zubeldia, and Hernandez.
Navarro and Noval follow Contador, if he is forced to stay, both will likely resign with Astana.

    Zubeldia signed with the Shack.

I thought Paulinho was a Contador man, I swear I remember reading just prior to the TDF Contador 'selected' him to be in the team for the Tour? May be wrong...

Correct, but Paulinho wanted to have a solid contract so has gone to the other side.

    Zubeldia signed with the Shack.

Guess he didn't sign the contract with Astana then.
  • The upshot of this is that we might have an intresting July?

Yaroslav Popovych, Andreas Klöden, Gregory Rast and Haimar Zubeldia signed, despite having two year contracts. But the Kazakhs have only agreed to let "Popo" go, the other three are not - as of now - being allowed to leave.

Above all, Bruyneel is still linked to the team and the Kazakhs won't let him go.

We'll see if Bruyneel and Armstrong can stir the pot with the UCI because the team still has not paid its due the the UCI and if this is not paid then the team could be stripped of its licence, not just Pro Tour, but its licence to operate in full. This would release all the riders.

Bruyneel walked out of 3 hour negotiations with Kazaks yesterday. He says they've not paid all their dosh

More interesting, JB is still under contract with Astana

The riders Arkibal listed above are also still under contract

Bruyneel offered to let them have Harmar Z but the Kazaks said no

Yet, with a new sponsorship deal signed and Vino having served his full ban, this would need a whole new set of "special" Pat McQuaid one off, imaginary rules, no?
Surely, that would end up in protracted litigation?

JB has said he'll take 2010 off to help the Shack get their PT licence

Is that not a conflict of interest?
Will those contracted riders be allowed a year's sabatical to do the same?
I think the polite term is "unique".

    Does BS mean ...
JB is going to "take a year off" and spend it contributing to Radioshack's development behind the scenes. Which isn't a year off at all.
    Or
JB is going to compromise with Astana by doing nothing for a year, which will help Radioshack's application for a pro tour licence because it will mean they aren't ds poachers? But it will also mean that radaioshack don't get to poach him, and he doesn't have to ds in opposition to the team where his heart is?
The second seems more likely - especially because surely they will have a licence this year anyway? It's still a stupid idea though.

What a farce. Both teams want to be in the Pro Tour but neither look credible.

RadioStack seem to be employing unethical methods of poaching riders under contract*, without paying compensation to the team that holds the contract.

Astana still look like a basket case, if they were a village cycling club they would have been shut down for non-payment of bills long ago.

    * Sky has taken some riders out of contract but had the courtesy to pay compensation to the losing team.
  • Looks like this will keep things intresting after Giro Lombardia is over, keeps the off season intresting. Looks more and more likely that Astana are going to be given the arse and the riders will be free to search for other offers which will fill out Shack and some other teams and more importantly give Contador a choice of teams. Which one Garmin, Caisse or QS?

    They're supposed to have signed

    Plaza
    Samoilau
    Fofonov
    Gurov
    Tiralongo
    Allan Davis
    Caruso
    Gasparotto
    Simoni
    Kunitsk
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • The question I would like to know the answer to is this:
Who made the Shack PT licence application? Under who's name?
If, as prospective manager, Bruyneel was the man, he did so under false pretenses.
After all, he held Disco's docket.

How could a guy apply for a licence for a new team, while contracted to work for another?
Would be considered illegal in most circumstances.

Quite clearly, LA/JB had a deadline to meet, in submitting the paperwork. They met it, but in doing so, made it fraudulently.
This stinks of the collaboration of the usual third party. He makes up new rules and breaks old ones, as he does whatever suits his interests.

It was made by a company. That company has three shareholders: Armstrong, Bruyneel and Bill Stapleton.

Bruyneel has left. He signed the contract today.

In the meantime, Yvon Sanquer has joined the team as the new DS. Who?

He run the tiny Mutuelle Seine et Marne pro team that got a ride in the Tour de France in the mid 1990s and then took on Festina after the scandal, looks like he's Monsieur New Broom.

So, it looks like Popo got out of his Astana contract and is now on his way to the Shack, along with Rast and Kloden.

But Zubeldia got the shaft and is stuck staying with Astana.

What you mean is youd like it be Bruyneel but hey even if it wasnt you're gonna fling mud at him anyway.
Gasping - but somehow still alive !
