Man fly symptoms..

I had a bout of proper flu a couple of years ago - you'll just know when you've got it. I'd had what i thought was 'flu a couple of times but nothing prepared me for this one. I was watching a programme on TV (I think it was something about Russell Brand in America. I digress...) and within the space of an hour went from feeling "Chipper" to "Is that the Grim Reaper?"
I spent the next two days laid in bed hallucinating - at one point I was convinced I was in Greece on holiday and couldn't believe how much the hotel room resembled my bedroom at home. Also, despite an absolute raging thirst, the thought of going and getting a drink was just too much.
I always remember Dr Chris Steel from This Morning differentiate a cold from 'flu by saying that if you saw twenty quid on your front lawn and went out to get it you probably have a cold. However, if you saw twenty quid on your front lawn and thought 'F*ck that...' you probably have 'flu. May not have been his exact words but you get the picture.
Get well soon anyway - and lay off the bike for a week or two after.0 -

Only death would prevent me from heading lawnwards if Megan Fox was on it. Even then I'd have a bloody good go!0 -
Well the doctor gave me a form to take to a clinic to get tamiflu, he says they can't tell if someone has swine flu for sure anymore as apparently the government has told them to stop testing for swine flu due to the amount already being done. I have a high temperature, he said give it 1 or 2 days and it should go away and that I have to take paracetamol regular, he also told me Beechams flu plus is a con. I said, you think I'd be able to go college tomorrow? He said if you feel fine yeah.0

Yep, they're different families, just don't over do it.
YOu're right, Beechams Flu Plus are sh*te, no good to man nor beast. However, I swear by standard Beechams Capsules when I've got a touch of man flu....

A nagging girlfriend or mother when you're feeling awful.
I don't reckon there's much of a gender divide there, as my Mum has to suffer that kind of earache from her mother (who will always claim to be feeling 10 times worse, plus someone she slightly knew has died, and ooh, isn't Morrisons getting expensive lately, blah, blah, blah, etc.) when she's feeling ill. Or maybe a new variant has appeared in the shape of "Nan flu", in which a spell of mild illness is made worse by the incessant, random babbling of some old dear.

Sorry to bring this up it should have bin killed.
Anyway, I went to the doctors, he gave me a form for tamiflu as I said, but I feel I might not need it, yesterday in the morning, it was at the point where I could not get out of bed, unless I wanted to get sick, I wanted a drink but could not face going to the kitchen, anyway, today I'd say on my feet I'm not 100%, but perfect compared to yesterday.., I have very violent cough and abit of a running nose, the aches went yesterday, I have been taking paracetamol, but because all I have now is really a bad nose and violent cough, that means what I have/had is not flu/swine flu, sort of gutted about that, I wanted it to be swine flu to get it over and done with so I'd not catch it anymore. So maybe it was just a very violent cold I had.
So hopefully I'll be better by friday, would it almost certainly be unrecommended to do any cycling at all at the weekend, there is some cyclocross or something going on on Sunday that I would not have minded to cycle to and watch/help out and perhaps do an very short ride, like 18mile, the doctor told me perhaps I should start to build up from low mileage when it clears and that I might notice I struggle allot more at first.0 -
take it gently...have a bike maintenance session maybe rather than a ride...hope you feel good soon0

Never noticed that, well this morning I felt abit crap, had a bad cough, but at the moment I have abit of an itch in my throat that's it, I'm really wanting to have a ride on my bike, would you say it'd be a bad idea to go on my bike now? I was thinking maybe do a ride, if I don't feel good then come back but if I feel ok do 18 mile loop, I like cycling at this time. Just don't want to get me killed if I still have something and it gets to me heart, I feel ok apart from a slight cough..0

have a nice gentle run out on the bike....I sometimes find that I am pushing so hard on the bike that i forget to look at the scenery etc...maybe recovery time is good for that.
us roadies never seem to have time to stop and chat to each other about bikes...see if you can prove me wrong have a bike-chat with someone on a gentle run.

Well I went out did short 18 miles today, I could tell it hit me this virus, I struggled to keep any speed so had to take it steady, still averaged 19.5 which aint bad, I suck at hills atm though.0

Well went on a ride today, and tbh it felt like 85 miles hilly now I'm home, pretty dissapointed in my performance at the moment, I thrashed it up one climb near wilmslow, then shortly there was another, and I was dead up that, Bhima just flew away from me, I'm faster now than I was at this time last year though. Next ride I do might be Saturday or Thursday afternoon where I will have a go at something steadier but longer and hilly.
It was just shy of 50 miles @ 18.6mph avg, Bhima thought we seen Nap D somewhere, can't remember where it is, Nap D, was it you?

I just thought I'd get on with it as I was so thirsty and wanted to get back asap so I lost you or you turned off somewhere bhima, my bottles had like a rim of soap round them inside :evil:0
