A nagging girlfriend or mother when you're feeling awful.

Check in the mirror is the easiest way.

Basically it's real flu but being a man you put a brave face on and at least try to watch Sky Sport (or something more 'adult') and stuff your face with food while lying in bed for a few days and when women see that you aren't completely flattened by an illness that leaves them completely unable to do anything they demean it by suggesting it is 'man flu', something they see as just a common cold but we all know it's just jealousy at our male ability to deal with it

I thought it was completely the opposite of the above? Less brave face, and more sniffling, malingering excuse for a man.

The best remedy is paracetemol and a dose of HTFU.

Exactly, that's because women have mounted a campaign to portray things that way

No, that's proper flu. Or swine flu if you've really hit the jackpot.

Take paracetamol for the head, and drink lots of water. You'll feel crap for a couple of days and then get better. Unless you've got 'underlying health problems', in which case you'll die.

    Fingers crossed, eh?

Sorry, you would not have the energy to type if you had manflu.

I still get flashbacks, then I have to stay in bed, watch dvd's and eat supernoodles my wife brings me.

Childbirth is nothing compared to it.

The "flu" I have really eased off earlier, the aching and everything went away, I thought, must have quickly recovered, but it appears to be coming back :\, I've got college on wednesday, no doubt it'll have eased off abit by then, I'll have to go in or I'll get called lazy.

Fight through it, get to college, improve yourself, get a good job and buy nice bling bikes. Smashing.

It's **** this, I thought it's getting better but now the cough gets worse and hard to breath sometimes, it's only just over a week since I had a bad chesty cold. On second thought if it does not massivly improve by wednesday I am not going to go into college, what's the point when you'll learn crap all due to not being able to concentrating and caughing at everyone ever 10 seconds.

My cycling fitness is going down the drain fast, it's really annoying, I'm crap compared to how I was just like 5 weeks ago..... Me thinks I need to take a couple weeks off and start from square 1 :(

We all get ill from time to time - just rest up.

Been a little dodgy for a few days myself, so has my wife and kids. Slept in till 10 and 11 over the weekend (this is late if you have kids), got up this morning, very wobbly....phoned in work, and went back to bed till midday. OK ish for the afternoon, but now back to square 1 - back to bed.....

I feel like absoloute **** but I can't help but think people are thinking I'm stupid for not going into college despite the symptoms I have. I'm not going to get much sleep and my breathing is pretty crap.

Manflu's a cold that men like to make out is a flu in order to show how hardcore they are.

Actual flu is a bummer - manflu is a (failed) attempt to show off.
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.

The doctor on the phone said it's eaither flu or swine flu I have, I'm struggling to get out of bed, feeling dizzy, sick and cold despite my body being VERY warm. I'm only on the pc cause I got to try book a taxi to get there.

Sounds like more than Man Flu !!
Say indoors, stay wrapped up warm (even if you already feel warm) Take paracetamol (it'll reduce your temp), take neurofen (it'll help with any aching joints), stay hydrated and take some multivits (Berocca are great !!)

And.... the cure all....... Chicken Soup !!!

Apparently so - it's all in the zinc and its effective delivery. A trial of chicken soup vs. zinc gluconate tablets in a group of common cold sufferers (no reference to hand, sorry) showed that the soup was more effective in helping them on the road to recovery.

Well I was freezing but my body felt really warm, now I'm sweating, my boxers are soaked. It's really odd, the symptoms really eased off and the aching went away, but it's coming back now, it's like this flu works in waves..

You sure it's safe to take paracetamol and ibuprofen at the same time?

Will, if you have a very high temp' you need to unwrap and strip off to bring it down. You will feel very cold but will benefit and feel better when your temp drops.
