Waking up early the day after a race

Hi,

The morning after a race or intense training session, I seem to always wake up 2-3 hours earlier than I would normally. I lie there for a bit hoping to go back to sleep but no, so I get up in the dark and start my day groggy and feeling cheated.

I did a 1 hour cross raace yesterday, and I woke up at around 430 this morning. Again.

No sleep is BAD, and I need to sort this out. Has anyone any thoughts on what I can do to combat this?

Cheers,
Andy

    the serious answer is yes.

But also you might need to relax, rather than going to bed with your head full of the race .
  • i found that i couldnt get to to sleep after a race,i also wake up early i can never lie in but i think that has something to do with my early starts at work.i now use camomile tea, calms before bed and a couple of drops of lavender oil on the pillow.always have a good warm down and also keep well hydrated.try a glass of milk and a banna before bed as well.sweet dreams.

Maybe you should drink all the champagne in the magnum and smooch the podium girls after your race, then you might sleep.
