(technically not a 'ride' yet so it's in here mods... ;) )

Waiting for my new frame to arrive, checked the 'parcel tracker' and it's been out for delivery since 4.59am this morning, and the depot is only 2 miles away....

Every time I hear a van I am at the window......

Not the usual behaviour of a 35 year old is it ...

    Hehe.

    It's a great feeling. :D

Watching you build this will be great - just don't strip the BB thread in your new found exuberance.

  • Cheers,

yep am looking forward to building it up, most of the stuff is a straight swap over from my Indian Fire Trail with the exception of the seatpost (sold with IFT frame to new owner) and headset (the new frame has an integrated headset, so that new white FSA one won't be getting used, as that was included with IFT frame package)

I have a new headset on the way, I will need to buy a new 27.2mm Thomson post (no carbon this time) when I can afford it.

I have also bought 2 meters of Goodridge carbon gear housing, I was going to get some white outer but thought that's tooooo tarty

The build should look pretty pimp, as it's red, white and blue....

I am still waiting for my hacksaw to turn up that I bought TWO WEEKS ago!!! I need this to cut the steerer on the SIDs

    Then the build can commence.......
  • saw n bike will turn up same time :)

Hacksaw turned up coincidently, there was just a knock at the door, postie must have thought I was well rude, with my grunt as I snatched it off him, thought it was my frame!

Did you really go for the white??

Yep  ordered them yesterday, got a bad feeling all the whites are going to be slightly different (frame, headset, fork, grips, cables) and it will probably bug the hell out of me, but I had to give it a go!

  • The Marin IFT frame is bright white, my fox's didn't quite match and it drove me mad, it's amazing there are so many differing shades of white lol. You may be OK though!

I came soo close to buying the white, what I really wanted was blue.. but couldn't seem to find any, I am now looking for some blue racing grips...
  • Oh headset is the same as the frame! You will be glad to hear, I offered it up! Will lok great! 8)

Oh yes, it's here, just uploading the pics... it's something special, I would go as far as to say that I prefer it to the Ti version I nearly bought at the begining of the year..

Oh, and it under 2lb in weight!
  • buddy will be awesome !!! i recon there will be just ost after post today as each new part gets fitted :) how it shud be done :)
  • you've had it for an hour now Ad
    get the pics up
  • Well, here she is, and all I can say is WOW!!!!

It's so light I cannot believe it, it's under 2lbs in weight!!!

Gorgeous hydro formed tubing, with a paint job to die for, the attention to detail is superb, tiny Marin 'bands' around headtube/seatube. With a custom marin headtube badge, this my friends is superbike material!!! :D Just a shame I don't ride like a Pro...

This is by far one of the sexiest things (MTB related) I have seen, I am more than happy, it has exceeded my expectations..... just about to phone up and register/get a transponder for the frame..... happy as a pig in shite!

Pah - who needs carbon

Full spec will be (I have all of this now):

SID Race 2009 forks with pushloc
    FSA Orbit Z integrated headset
    USE carbon spacers
    USE Race stem
    USE Flattie Atom carbon risers
Magura Marta SL (candy red) brakes 180mm f / 160mm rear
    Ritchey lock on foam grips
    XTR shifters
    XTR front and rear mechs
    XTR cranks
    XTR chain (with SRAM powerlink)
    XTR 11-34 cassette (Ti)
XTR hubs on DT Swiss XR4.2d rims
    Goodridge Carbon gear hose
Shimano DX flats (I don't do clipless)
    Thomson 27.2 inline post
Selle San Marco Aspide Ti saddle
Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.2 front and rear

She's gonna be a corker!!!! I reckon ~20lb build on this one.
  • Cheesey,

That has to be one of the nicest frames I have ever seen, very lush build btw too 8) :D
  • Thanks, she is gorgeous isn't she, I am such a proud parent!

Nice! Just need to dump that lardy seatpost now!
  • Those hydroformed tubes are like a thoroughbred race car, just lovely.

And if you get bored of her, let me know
  • I can't afford a carbon post after this, a Thomson should be fine, sonic, it's lighter than a bag of sugar!!!

Exotic carbon, shave another 60g off! Mg1 ti axles may just take you below 20lbs ;-)
