Hi,
Its my longest ride yet and I've got two days to train. I'm a decent cyclist but haven't done too much training at all. What do you suggest I do in these two days? It's a ride of 70 miles that I want to complete in 6-7 hours.
PLEASE DON'T SAY I SHOULDN'T DO IT.
Thanks

Don't train. Rest, so you feel totally fresh in two days time.0

Yup, either rest up, or go for very gentle ride to just keep legs ticking over. Too late to do any training for that now.0

By the way, just to answer the question, the only way to get good at riding 70 miles is to ride 70 miles!
If you do that now, there's no way you'd recover in time.0 -

You can cover a surprising distance even without ideal training if you ride within yourself and keep eating and drinking during the ride.0 -

I agree with this, I rarely get the chance of a training ride much over 50 miles but can do a 100 mile sportive without too many problems as long as I remember to ride at my own speed and eat/drink enough.

2 Days to train? That's 48 hours....
I suggest:
0 hours of work
16 hours of sleep
3 hours of eating
1 hour of sitting in the bath
8 hours of watching TV
1 hour of sex
1 hour of forum surfing
2 hours of bike cleaning/maintenance
1 hour of dressing/undressing
1 hour of toilet breaks
2 hours of pretending to care what your misses thinks
2 hours at local pub
1 hour of choosing outfit to wear for event
1 hour of checking email
8 hours of 'free' time.
Enjoy the ride!0 -

Don't forget shopping for energy bars, flapjack and pre-ride pasta.
And check the spare tube in your saddle bag, I checked mine recently after having had no punctures in a while and my spare tube had a hole in from where it had rubbed against the sides of my saddle bag.

Me and my mate went out and did 60miles yesterday, prior to that id let my riding slip and had only done about 330 in the last 2 1/2mnths. Now dont get me wrong it was rough for me compared to my mate who had been clocking up 1000 miles in september and 800 for august and average 500miles per month prior to that. 70miles isnt difficult aslong as you take your time at your speed and eat and drink plenty on the way round.Boardman Team 09 HT

Are you doing this on your own or with a friend/group. If its with a group a bit of wheel sucking can go a long way. I'd say about 70 miles.0
