Winter Training (Redux!)

So I get up like a kid at Christmas. Haven't been outside on my bike in 3 weeks after my racing season finished, only done 3 hours of boring level 2 stuff on the turbo.

The plan was to go out in my lovely winter gear, do 3 hours base riding and put in a Max HR test on the hill out of Keswick.... But i look out of the window whilst slurping my tea and the trees outside are bent double. The wheelie bin has blown over and the forecast is for 60mph winds all day.

SO first day of winter training and the first day lost to the weather already! Turbo here I come, an hour and a half (no way I can do 3 on it!) of steadily mounting boredom laced with rage at not being able to get out! GRRRRRRR

I too had it all planned out for today.Got a nice 70mile loop into the Yorkshire Wolds in mind. Mrs R is out from 11, not back till after 6. Happy days.

I kid you not it's like Hurricane Maureen has hit Rawcliffe! There's a huge oak tree just outside & bits of it keep getting blown into my house.

    Turbo it is then....
  • Tom, I always start first week of october with base stuff, just because you can bank on losing about 2 weeks in gales adn then ice up here between november and when I start racing again in March.

  • could be worse, could be here where it is wet and I am too poor to afford a turbo :D
  • The weather here was terrible so I just went and watched my beloved Hucknall town and have a few (alright, a shedfull of) Guinness. :D

    And we won, happy days.
