You got three hours? I didn't even know you could book it for that long! I went once, but only got to ride for about 40mins as we booked an hour but got stuck in traffic. It's great fun though.

Yes, if you can ride round the track for 3 hours solid, you are fitter than me mate

Might be worth wearing two layers on your upper body - base layer & short-sleeve jersey - if you do crash, it'll mean less road rash.
    And remember your gloves too.
Not that you're likely to crash in a club/taster session, but still.

Take a big bottle of drink too - you'll need it.

    Have fun !

I've been to the revolution events a few times, (and got tickets for November) but never rode there.

Are you riding to just watching?? As first time on a fixie could be fun :o

I've been a few years ago now.
I did my accreditation (I think its called). It was a bit hairy at first riding up the bends but you soon get used to it.

    Great fun! :D

    3 hours is perfect.
If beginners it gives you time for chats with the coaches who will explian safety, riding technique and training routines you will do which will provide rests in between.
£ hours is good for experienced riders also as you can get some good intervals in, some good endurance training also.
One hour is not much use by the time you get your wrm up ride done!!

I used to work there and ride a few times a week.

First time I ever got on the track - it was a little bit odd and scary - especially as I went higher and higher on the bankings, but you get used to it very quickly and I can assure you that it is a BLAST.

I was hooked after that and bought myself a track bike very shortly afterwards!

Best of luck and I have no doubt you'll enjoy it - and 3 hours will go by very quickly!
  • 3 hours isn't as long as it seems because (in my experience) the instructor splits you into 2 squads who alternate on the track, so you might do a 10 min session then sit out and rest for 10.

If the Manchester University netball team are playing in the court in the centre of the track, then this makes the rest periods almost as much fun as the cycling

that's the standard "start from the railing and pedal as hard as you can to the start line" start. Not full speed - but a running start nonetheless.

And it's 250 meters per lap.
