Exercising with injured knee

I am currently suffering with anterior knee pain which ive been told by the physio could leave me unable to ride for up to 6 weeks!! bearing in mind i cant swim can anyone recommend anything i can do excersice wise to keep my fitness up?? (darent try running as i fear this will just make it worse)

I took three months off all exercise after developing persistent nagging knee pain - and have never had a problem since. Regaining fitness is hard work but better than doing longterm damage.
Try the ergometer (rowing machine) if you must do something.0 -

Ski machine might be worth a try as it uses a lot of the same muscles as cycling but there is very much less knee movement involved and relatively low impact. Your physio should be able to advise on appropriate alternatives and they might as well earn your money0

Even if you cannot swim, still go in pool and do running exercises in there, much less strain due to the water. You may get to learn to swim also0
