If you order the mounts now they will likely come in the same shipment anyhoo...
  • Thanks for the help, guys.

I put in my order for all the gear that was linked in the review - plus the bar mount that NappyD linked to.

Pity I don't have it already, as I was planning a late-night bike ride to my girlfriend's place, but my shitty front light means that it really is too risky when I hit the unlit country roads.

If you are desparate then a couple of the £5 Tesco torches (I zip tie one to my helmet and one to the bars) are likely to be sufficient but obviously not up to your forthcoming purchases. Use as backups/additionals when the new ones do arrive.

Oh - and one last question.

What would you guys recommend for a decent rear light?

I've just received my order of a Cateye LD610 through the post - it blows my old light out of the water in terms of brightness, but it has an annoying 'nobbly' bit (bike jargon to the extreme) on the strap that you attach to the seat post.

What a stupid design, and yet it still averages over 4.5 out of 5 from 80+ reviews on Wiggle. :s

There is only one rear light you want to buy and that's the Smart Superflash 1/2 Watt, just fantastic for about a tenner. Bright is not the word .....

+1 for the Smart 1/2 watt and think I will be getting one more at sometime 8)
  • Do they rear lights ever cause cars to crash behind the cyclist?

I've just tried the Cateye LD610 out on the bike and I think I've blinded half of the people down my road.

Thats not for you to worry about! Just making sure they see you is half the battle, as long as they do and avoid you, don't fret man. As the old slogan went: Be seen, be safe.
  • FYI

Wiggle have done one of those light test guides (hard to find on their site) which is more up to date than some others out there.
