am i the only person who doesnt mind what james martin said? why is everyone getting so upset with someone expressing an opinion?

He said he deliberately ran some people off the road because he doesn't like the group of people he thinks they belong to. Do you really think that's OK?

Everybody is free to express their opinion, but not like that.

I bet he has a silverplated plague saying so above his bed that he spit-polishes every night to make himself feel like a big man.

I hate tree huggers with a passion
They always think they're doing the world a favour with their pointless protests and often idiotic practices.
Sadly the developing nations are polluting the planet, India, China, Russia and so forth, these guys don't care about the climate, they're trying to grow their economies at any cost.

England produces about 2% of the world's carbon but we're taxed more than any other nation on the planet in regards to car tax, air ticket tax, petrol prices and so forth, sadly not one penny of these taxes are used to reduce carbon output.

If some hippy chick tree hugger handcuffing herself to a Land Rover because "it makes smoke", or some eco-yobs spreading manure on a celebs' garden believe they can make a difference, well let's hand them rifles and get them to kill the cows who produce most of the methane causing global warming. That way food prices and greenhouse gasses will drop

Clarkson thinks that controversial = funny, and sometimes he's just a dick.
But why should he not be allowed to give his opinion on global warming?
The protestors really are the dicks in this instance.

Why do you think China is polluting so much...because they make all the stuff we buy! if they stop and we had to make it all ourselves I'm fairly sure the carbon league table would look a little different.

It's a very poor protest carried out by idiotic pipsqueaks against the wrong target for the wrong reasons. What more needs to be said.

I speak as an environmental protest veteran - my targets tended to be major road-builders, the motor trade, BP, shell, major supermarkets, governments, etc.

I wouldn't have even got out of bed for a protest against JC - he's not worth it.

    +1
not sure how great your history lessons at school were but don't forget, there was a thing called the industrial revolution which we kind of kicked off.

The key is in the question "Global" warming is a Global problem it's not good enough to blame developing nations who lets face it are just following in our footsteps.

Demonstration is about raising awareness, yes sometimes it goes too far, but prompting any kind of reaction which gets folks talking about the issues is a good thing.

  • i'm sorry but its not exactly a lot of manure... I was thinking something like what that farmer did to the bank (he sprayed the whole outide of the bank with sh*t!).

I can't wait for Clarksons revenge... I can just see him filling some sort of tractor with poo and getting the knobs back

TBH, quite a few of Clarksons views are valid IMO. Just because he's not PC and actually says whats on his mind.

Clarkson is perfectly entitled to his opinion, I don't agree with it but he is entitled to express it freely

James Martin on the other hand is a total twonk, I don't particularly like passing groups of roadies when I'm driving but I don't try and force them off the road.

It's not quite the same - his opinion is more widely heard than most other people - and so there should be responsibilties that come with having such a privelege. broadly though I do agree with you....anyway he's a pipsqueak - I'm not scared of him - I think most right-minded people know he's an idiot who runneth off at the mouth a lttile too often and probably doesn;t mean half of what he says.

but we have to listen to and put up with oppinions of Brown, Cameron and all the other tossers in politics.... why shouldn't someone be allowed to express their own views that aren't politically correct?

Im convinced JC doesnt actually believe all he says, he knows gullible groups will though and they'll run wild with it so he does it for a wind up. Why not if u know someone will run with it and blow it all completely our of proportion at least it gets whatever the subject is out in the open.

Im a big fan of jezza despite what comes out of his mouth, u just need to use a bit of common sense and realise its mostly all rubbish to wind the less intelligent up and its works every single time :D:D:D

  • Raymondavalon, sorry for the paraphrasing below I'm not trying to get up your back (well, OK, maybe I am a little), but mainly I just want to focus on one thing you said;
. efing treehuggers... blah blah....England produces about 2% of the world's carbon .... blah blah taxes...blah blah ... it's all the 3rd world's fault.... blah blah .. etc

I dont know if that's true but if it is ... then as England is <1% of the world's population (even if by England you mean the whole UK) so it is, by your own rekoning, polluting twice as much as its share.

btw I believe Clarkson is a tarnished Genius but then that's just me I guess.

  • Clarkson is probably just as fed up as most of us are at being told what we can't say or do, can't blame him for spouting off constantly and so far haven't been offended by anything he says.

He mouthes off and pokes fun at certain targets because they're simple to make fun of and bite back.

In which case you can't complain about having to listen to them 8)

JC is funny and the controversy he causes amuses me. He's just a big flirt and he loves the attention both positive and negative.

Couldn't give two sh*ts about James Martin's views, didn't even know who he was until reading this thread.

The only thing Martin got wrong in my view was using an electric car...I'd have used a HGV for running down roadies, then gone on and strangled some hookers and been home for tea and crumpets in no time.

Clarkson is a total legend. People who can't see that just won't ever get it. He takes life exactly the right way especially for someone with the perfect job.

Long live the Clarkson, half of the stuff he says is to purposely wind people up.
