When I get back after my usual 20 mile burn out mountain or road, I am starving and really Thirsty....
Simple question, what is the best carb drink on the market for recovery and muscle gain without putting on loads of weight ????
Thanks in advance
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

There's a couple of threads just below this one that deal with your question.

There's the one about adding salt and the other about whey protein.

Carbs aren't used to build muscle they are used to replace energy. Protein aids muscle building. Any which provide you with sufficient carbs and protein are good and that can come from suplementation (easy to get large enough quantities into your system quickly) and from a normal healthy diet.

Contrary to what the manufacturers will tell you there is no best drink and indeed some drinks will work better for some people than they do for others however any differences are actually only marginal and unless you are at the top of your sport then you are unlikely to notice the differences.

And a clogged artery is a clogged artery whether you are physically fit or not
  • if you are thirsty when finishing your bike ride , you are probably not drinking enough on you ride.
Personally I use PSP rego recovery drink after a ride ,havent used any others so I am not saying it is the best one for you,but it does take away the munchies feeling,If i dont have it i tend to eat crap !.
Other than that get some ilk and bananas down you .
