I have been wearing Assos bibs and a Lidl shirt all summer. the two items of clothing both performed satisfactorily.0

i like the advert with cycle clothing at the top - then super cholesterol pizzas and San Miguel...then flowers to apologise to the wife for spending more on your pizza than your cycle clothing0

seriously...yes its cheap poor quality shite...but why pay 100quid for a pair that will still get worn out over winter?
admittidly some of it i wouldnt wear..but some of it i would happily wear and unless i told people they would be none the wiser where it came from
they may look the same the problem is theyre not the same- the tops are ok but the shorts/bibs are literally unwearable- the pads feellike they are made of cardboard -not nice!'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -
Ladies, ladies, ladies. Please !
Buy it if you want it and leave it if you don't.
I happen to believe, that you should buy the best you can afford (best being the operative word) However, best doesn't mean the most expensive or the one with the flashiest brand.
My contribution to this debate, however, would be to repeat something a very well known cyclist once said.......................................
"It's not about the bike !"
Just get out there and ride.I ride therefore I am0 -

Tacy Boy
Make your mind up ( if you can ).
One minute you dont care if people want to wear Aldi's clothing, then you say we will all look like a bag of shite?
Do us all a favor and put the toys back in the pram or does someone need a nappy change? :?
P.s if it bothers you THAT much move on.0 -
What a wonderful thread. After 20 years of searching I've yet to find a single item of cycling clothing that could be deemed as having "style".
Lycra clad cyclists look just like 1950's camp superheros in tights, without capes!! Although, some of us cyclists have a lot more writing on their shirts, compared with just a lone B or S.
If you could please give me some pointers to some clothing with style it would be greatly appreciated. But if it's got writing on it, it doesn't have style.0 -

bad news. tried the lights. a couple of knocks both front and back and they turn off by themselves. might just be the pair i got.0
-
No,I got some lights for my son- he doesn't treat things very sympathetically but he says he went down a kerb and now the back one flickers. Sh*te!
Know it's only £3.99 but i think I'll take 'em back.0 -
Glad I did not get any for my son.0

for really good quality stuff I just don't see the point in really cheapo lights.
The clothes seem really decent though.Faster than a tent.......0 -
Got 3 funvtion tops and a functional jacket 8)
Should be a ble to keep a bit warmer this year.
It is not amazing stuff, but for the money, no comparison0 -
Oh well, here is my 2 pennorth.
The jacket is really nice, way better than some I've spent £50 on, only gripe is sleeves could have been elasticated.
Wore the bibs on a cold 50 mile ride today, to be frank they performed as well as my £35 DHB Earnleys.
The socks are also bloody good.
I also have a Lidl top from 2004 still going strong & still a favourite.
Didn't fancy the jerseys though, bought 1 from Lidl this week instead.
For the price some of the stuff is really excellent - clothing that is.
The gloves looked pretty decent as well, as did the cap & overshoes.
Usually get my stuff from Decathlon - not all of us can afford, or are willing to pay, Assos or Rapha prices. My knees hurt !0 -
Used my outer and inner tops today for the first time in a 2 layer combo
They were excellent, and kept me warm and dry over the top of a very wet cat & fiddle and all the way to the end of the 53 miles.
Highly recommended if you can still find some instore.live long, eat biscuit0 -

Soaked em, froze up, battered them over rocky and muddy ground and they are still going strong. Nowhere near the fit of my best shoes but for less than £20? No brainer. Wore out a pair of the overshoes as well. Pity they aren't waterproof, but they are warm, as is the matching under helmet hat. The soft shell jacket was another cracking buy. I have had no trouble with zips on mine, and last years had a zipped rear pocket as well as a handy breast pocket with zip handy for mobile phones.

I've never bothered with the shorts but the jerseys have been OK for me on the commute all year. The softshell was better still. It has bobbled a bit where my rucksack rubs but otherwise has been fine. And it doesn't look any different when I'm riding to any other jacket Zips are YKK so should be fine.
The socks are great too.Faster than a tent.......0 -

Going To get a jacket, merino top and socks hopefully0 -
The only real disappointment I've had is from Aldi (or was it lidl?) is a Crivit short sleeved cycling top. The cut is pathetic, however if you have a beer belly it'll be great
The shorts (non bib type) have been great and lasted a year used twice a week training on road and turbo. The long padded pants are very warm and seem just as good.
Socks have been well worn and lasted just as long as an expensive pair with little smell.
HR watch was a good buy for £12 or so. Gloves OK, but not the greatest fit. Mitts was used but not as good as my other cheap PlanetX pair.
The only problem I have is ALDI/LIDL never seem to have enough stock in by the time I finish work and get there!CAAD9

Crivit is Lidl, Crane Aldi. I think the last lot of jerseys were a bit wierd.Faster than a tent.......0

the hat and overshoes are worth it and the gloves are windproof although not very well cut for my hands. Good value for those bits alone IMHO but not so much the clothing...Your Past is Not Your Potential...0

I'll certainly have a look at the kit. Last winter jacket I got off them had a YKK zip - so they've listened to the feedback about that part.0

Quality not great, but it served a purpose (giving me something to wear while confirming my re-found enthisiasm for cycling). I still wear the jersey post-bike and clothing upgrade.
As long as you are realistic about what you are getting, might be worth a go.
Having seen both Aldi and Lidl cycle clothing, Aldi is much better quality.Specialized Sequoia Expert Gravel Bike

Got 3 x merino socks, 2 x winter gloves and 2 x base layer/thermal on Saturday morning. All for £38.
I worn the socks on Saturday and Sunday and they're good, and not just for £5. No need to wear the base layer yet but the quality seems good. The gloves also seem to be well made and although the dull and drab 'BIKING' livery isn't very inspiring but I don't care, they were £5.
I spent £30 on a really bad pair of Castelli winter gloves last year and they got given away. So for £38 on all the above, I'm willing to take a gamble. Time will tell if they're as good as more expensive options.“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0
