Ride Position - kneeing myself in the chest

Hi,
When I'm riding hard with my hand on the hoods and forearms parallel to the ground, I find that my knees/thighs come up and hit the bottom of my ribcage. I'm pretty sure this isn't normal (or is it?) and want to fix the problem.
My saddle height is set using the 'Lemond method' 10-15 degree of knee bend at the bottom of the pedal stroke. I have some flexibility issue in my lower back, so my handle bars are only set about 2 inches below my saddle height.
Does anyone else have this problem, is it fixable and if so what do you think I should do?

Hi
This sounds like your saddle is too low, or your cranks are too long, or most likely a combination of both.
Even with a suitable bend in the knee, the saddle can be too low if the heels are down.
How tall are you and what size cranks are you using?
