nearly a 3rd full now !
I see someone has started a thread on cyclosport about my event.I can't reply, there is a very good chance I'll get booted if I do (another story!)
http://www.cyclosport.org/forum/reply.a ... 6&tid=2787
Ron Keegan, the organiser of the Dartmoor Classic has posted some kind words about the event and someone has asked why only 300 riders.
the answer to that is simple
1. small steps, I'm building up the profile of the event year on year, so this year (year 2) there are an additional 100 places, better route, new HQ, more parking etc
2. any organiser will tell you, if you scale up the entry the logistics increase exponentially
3. it never set out to be a 1000 rider monster but I am seriously considering such at another time of the year but got to earn my reputation doing this event right first though

hi paul, i'm doing your event to try and support this http://www.justgiving.com/steven-loxam/ . its 50% further than i've ever ridden before. i'll do more miles up to the event as i only do about 200 a month due to work and family commitments, but do you think i need to do a ride of the same length before i do the sportive just to see if i could do it?0

I'm planning an informal recce of the route in Dec as I did last year if you're interested but I'd suggest you train to be able to ride two thirds of the distance comfortably. Its a bit tougher this year as its not so flat but the hills aren't as savage

Have just entered myself and my mate! This will be our first organised road ride of any description, although we have been doing Merida Marathons for a couple of years. Hoping that will stand us in good stead. Long way off, but looking forward to it already. (50 years of age and I'm still like a kid waiting for Christmas  )0

As I said earlier this will be my 1st sportive. I want to do a reasonable time. How will I ensure I don't go off with a slow group?
Look at their bikes? If they have top bikes they might just have all the gear & no idea!0 -
you could try and rally a fast group on here?http://www.cultracing.com
