Now plenty of people has got the black book.

I'm abit confused on this bit.
"Engage a gear that you can pedal comfortably without over stressing
yourself, and-pedal at a constant speed (20 MPH?) Until your heart
rate settles down. This will take between 2 and 10 minutes depending
on your present state of fitness."

Fair enough, I can do that, but to be accurate it'd have to be the same conditions such as wind speed, headwind or tailwind etc... no?
  • Will I have just realised I have sent a pm to the wrong user could you forward the PDF to me please. I have sent my email adress to you.

I wholeheartedly agree, I'm going to do it with power instead of speed...

The session you mention is based on a turbo, the idea behind it is if you had a speedo on your rear wheel you select a gear get to 20 mph, let your hr settle then once a month as you follow the book you get fitter and stronger you will do the same gear same speed at a lower heart rate.

Alot of the book is based on the turbo, my mate currently uses him as his coach and is very reasonable.

Heis given my mate some cracking sessions for turbo and road, we are doing a cracking leg sharpener at the mo.

The progressive power session is good which starts in December.

Most of it is building a superb base and not killing yourself or racing mates till february, all very controlled hr and staying seated slightly over geared on the climbs.

    Very good though.

I may go and see him this winter myself.
  • Also you will need lots of time to follow it properly but worth it.

I followed it and i saw a gain in a 10 hr mtb race i did this year over last, did a extra 2 laps in shorter time so covered nearly a extra 20 miles as i was stronger this year to not go lower than the middle ring on my mtb for the entire race.
  • Will,

Would it be possible to email me a copy of this.

I have sent you a PM with my email address.

    Thanks.
