Anyone else doing the Manc 100 tomorrow?

Excellent day out.
Much more fun than the Manchester- Blackpool run which is just an urban ride.
Marshalls were great and deserve much credit for what they do as do the mechanics that help everyone try to finish.
I ended up with 740 metres of elevation on my Garmin which isn't bad for a 100 miles ride.
I ended up witrh a ride time of 5:44 which wasn't bad for my longest ride in 15 years.
Had a couple of stops for some of my team as they had never biked anywhere near this distance before, they hurt lots but all enjoyed it.0 -
we rolled up just after that girl had crashed.
A couple of guys had just stopped, one was a nurse and one of our guys is a doctor so they started taking care of her pretty quickly while someone called in an ambulance in (thank god for the Garmin).
apparently she's flipped over the bars and face planed into the tarmac, I dont think another vehicle was involved. Poot lass was in a right state, chin all ripped open and her eye was swelling up pretty bad, I don't know if she broke anything but she was in shock. We moved on befor the ambulance arrived so I hope she was okay.
Anyone else get caught up in the tack incident?
It was probably about 70miles in, someone had sprinkled tacks of over the road.
1st couple of guys to get hit stopp and soon enough everyone was stopped clearing the raod....good show guys. considering it was probably a mupper driver all he did was hold up a load of cars are we blocked the road while we cleaned up.
Anyway, we were sub 6 hours which I'm happy with considering how shattered I've been lately (young kids).0 -
Good ride in 4.58 so well chuffed - all alone all the way through
Organisation top notch as usual
Where were the tacks spread - must have been early on as i started from Wettenhall at 06.45 so was following everyone round.
There were still two guys coming past our house at 17.15 in the pissing rain  - much respect for a very long day in the saddle and still 40 mile to go.0 -
Poor girl I hope she will be ok, mrchrispy approx what time did this all occur? my little teams journey was thankfully tack free so am wondering whether we arrived at this point before or after the tack attack...0

Did the 100 miles, 6h 30m riding time. Back in time to avoid the rain and enjoy the carnival atmosphere in the park.
Started a bit quick and waiting to blow up but it never happened. Always seemed to be faster groups coming past at just the right time to latch onto. I'm one to forget names but thanks especially to women in Btwin shorts and her friend Kathy and a man in a Bianchi top who was an absolute engine on the front in the last hour.
Was expecting to blow up, but felt amazing.A tad tired towards end but kept going strong all the way, good enough for a 40km/h burn-up into the finish.
Signposting was excellent, though took a wrong turn immediately after the school feed stop - it was signposted left right by it! - and lost a minute or so there.
Some of the driving left much to be desired, but I guess it's to be expected... saw a man clutching his collarbone around Middlewich. Organisers have said no major injuries though.0 -
5:18 ride time - with a 2:32 first 50 miles - could have swore there was a mild headwind for much of the first 50 -60 miles? - weather could have been better ideally - set off late due to 35 min queues getting of the M56 - red lights changing literally every 8-10 seconds at the junction - ridiculous - regards the ride, saw the injured girl, sitting on the roadside with 3 riders crouched with her and the driver of a 4x4 with his arm on her shoulder - she was holding her jaw when I went past - hope she's ok - as ever the sigining/marhsalling was excellent - the water refill at the halfway point was nice and efficient - bloke took the hosepipe out of one of the vessels and was pouring it straight in fast (back on the road quickly). Nice crowds (and clapping) at the finish, good atmosphere. Seemed to be quite alot of beeping from frustrated drivers throughout the day (never heard that much before on a ride). Roads were chocka with riders at different points, faster riders overtaking slower riders with cars coming around the outside. All in all, a good day, and most importantly, some money raised for Christie's.0

i can't quite remember where the tacks were...somewhere inbetween Winsford and Middlewich I think!!! It all becase a blur after a while :-)
Actually...I think it was just after Church Minshull, which was at the end of the B5074 section.

Well thats where my Garmin reckons I stopped and it sure looks like it from the satellite view.0 -
Great ride and first 100 for a few years. Managed it in 6hrs 7mins and was really chuffed with that until I saw some of the times you lot have posted. We also went past the girl that came off. By the time we went past her she was in the back of the ambulance in a neck brace and covered in bandages. The sight of her blood on the road wasn't a pretty sight. We were puncture free as well with no sign of the tacks, so to the riders that cleared the way for the rest of us RESPECT!!!!! Great day out look forward to next year.0
