no the forks r coming at crimbo some rock shoc revelations and i have a high roller on the back and a nevagal on the front and i dont have any problems with the tyres0
-
Probably IS mount, not too sure, look at your bike :P
IS looks a lump of metal with two holes in, post looks like a couple of little metal posts, sticking out perpendicular to the fork legs. Google them!
If you get the IS Juicys they fit both anyway.0 -
The tyres weigh a ton. You will save over a pound with some decent kevlar beaded ones.0

My old Avalanche 1 came with Stick-E Negevals, wire bead too, they weighed literally about 1kg each and rolled VERY slowly. Easiest 1.5 pounds I've ever knocked off a bike0 -

ok what new tyre shall i put on the front0
-
What is your total budget for all these upgrades? Might help us prioritise what we think is best for this time round, keeping in mind the forks you will be getting. As much info as you can give us too ie what you want to achieve, any more money coming in, why you aren't just buying a better bike etc etc.0

What sort of riding do you do?0 -
i have a buget of 200 for brakes front and back, stem , handlebars, grips and tyre
brakes avid juice three
bars Truvativ Hussefelt
stem Truvativ AKA
grips Lizard Skins Peaty
i get 50 a month and parents say i am not allowed to get a new bike and trust me i have been trying for ages i ride xc mainly all over the uk
thanks0 -
Personally I would look at tyres like the Continental Mountain King Protection with black chili compound in a 2.2 or 2.3. Expensive, but light and good performers.
The stem and bars as I mentioned earlier. You don't need Hussefelt on an XC bike. Though you could just get a stem and keep your bars.
Grips as you find best.
Brakes - the Juicy is a good choice.
I'd also look at the pedals.
All that should be less than £200.0 -
ok
what pedal do u recommend i do not ride clip in so i am looking for some flat pedals
are the crank bros 5050x anygood0 -
They are pretty bad.
For about 20 quid Gusset Slim Jims.
For about 30 quid Wellgo MG1.0 -
ok thanks what stems do u recommend thanks0

pedals http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=172860 -
what do u think0
-
I think spending 50 quid on a stem is absurd! The bars are a good choice however, as are the pedals, though the ball bearing ones can be had cheaper. Nice light XC stem from CRC:

How come you can't order from elsewhere?0 -
because u can check out using pay pal my money is in a pay pal account so any website with pay pal0
-
You can use paypal at Carbon Cycles too.0
-
Assuming I was stuck at CRC, I quite like the Truvativ stuff, same company who do the Avid/Rockshox stuff.

I've used the stem on a couple of XC bikes, weighs about 130g, well made and stops by bars falling off. Not a vast amount of variation in stems
Tyre wise I'm a High Roller fan boy, I like the big 2.35" single ply 60a jobbies for trail riding but they don't seem to have any in. The 2.1" 60a jobbies are good, probably a more sensible width for XC riding too, folding will come in a bit lighter and is generally worth the extra cash:

Ooh, actually, 2.25" Nobby Nics are only £32 now, I'd have a set of those:

Bit soft if you ride hundreds of road miles but nice and grippy without feeling like you're riding in tar. Very light for the width too.
None of the above is fantastic value but then I'm generally a bit of a tart with pimp bits. Those Thomson stems are lovely beasts too :P If I only had £50 a month though it certainly wouldn't be on my list, heavier than the eXotic or Truvativ for miles more money.0 -

thanks for that
what do u think to these combo

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/mountain- ... tpost.html
or do u think its worth spending a bit more on the brakes mabey some juicy 5 or elixirs 5s0 -
I think we will be here for ever lol.
Again, I don't see the point in spending all that on bars and stem for your bike.0 -
I posted a link to an ebay shop (rutland cycles I think) earlier today ont he credit crunch thread - they were selling white outland stem, bar and grip combo for 23 notes plus P&P - take paypal.
Ebay also is a good place to look to stretch your money - plenty of solid Easton bars and stems on there for good money. Not to mention cheap deals on second hand brakes - probably find as new, removed from new bike avid 3's on ebay for half the price of new. worth it for the budget minded!
Merlin do some decent deals on bar/stem combos too - I got RF evolve stem, bar and seatpost as a job lot for 70 quid.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
thanks for the advice i have just put my order in thanks0

supersonic wrote:Yeah, the exotic stuff!
80mm stem, and scandium bar. Both 31.8mm.
I paid 45 quid delivered.
I have the same. Can't go wrong at that price.0 -
After all that, I'm dying to know...what did you order?0
-
avid juicey 3 front and back
thompson elite x4 stem
sunline v2 bars
peaty grips0 -
Sunlines are great bars (except their carbon ones). That stem is the best but it's a bit of a budget buster. Still, if you're determined...0

when i get the new parts i will put a pic up of the bike before and after and keep u posted on new parts
thanks for you help0
