Just found this website today

www.foodfocus.co.uk

I'm hoping it will help me to lose the extra Kg's I have. Don't really know if it's any good yet as I've only just found it, but it is free (found it through monysavingexpert.com)

thats two pages pluged in one post - I wish I was on commission :)

I've found tracking calories to be extremely helpful in trying to trim off some extra Kgs...the other thing that has been helpful is weighing myself every day at the same time and tracking the progress. Good motivation.

I don't go crazy, weighing everything I eat etc. although I do know some people go that far. I try to strike a balance between getting enough detail to be useful vs not being so much work that I give up after a week...

    LA is useful for something...

I have started using the Livestrong calorie tracker app on my blackberry and it is excellent. With it being on the mobile it means I can add as I eat so I don't have to remember everything then add when I get to a computer.

It has all the main brand foods such as Tesco/Sainsbury's ready meals on there and a whole lot more besides...

How is it for home-cooked meals? My wife cooks quite a bit, and most of the meals defy easy description <g>

  • You can create meals in the Livestrong website using the raw components. It sounds a bit of a pain, but once they have been created, you can call them up any time.

Have been using it for about 8 weeks now, and its amazing how many extra calories you consume without really thinking about it. It has certainly made me pay more attention to the extra 'Snacks' that I used to sneak in, and I have shed about 5 Kgs over the time I have been using it.
I'm not religious with getting the amounts right, and assume that it will be about 10% out, so don't worry too much if I go over the caloire goal a bit.
I have an Iphone, so downloaded the app for that. It is quite useful as mentioned above to log the food as you eat it, rather than trying to remember it when you get home.

The second day I started tracking calories, I stopped going for my twice-a-day starbucks latte + blueberry muffin runs once I saw the 500+ calorie hit that cost each time!

    (lost 6kg since mid-June).
