Yup thanks, I found them anyway :)

Just emailed the store asking about sizing, as I'm somewhere between a 12 and a 14 (though leaning more towards the 14, admittedly) wondering which I'd best go for... you have any experience with them LiT?

  • Well, not those specific ones, but with the Assos ones I have had trouble because I'm rather short-backed which leads to them coming undone, and they maintain I should have gone for a smaller size. I am sceptical. The santini ones haven't a fastening so that specifically wouldn't be an issue...

It's tricky - Assos (when asked) maintain slightly too small is better than slightly too big, which makes sense, but you wouldn't want them super-tight because the leg-grippers would be uncomfortable.

Hmmmmmm. The perils of internet shopping.

Well I seem to be long in the body and short in the leg, so I guess that won't be a problem... Shall have to see what they come back with then! Should probably just get the 14s but if I can fit a 12 then I'd rather have 'L' on the label than 'XL'

Always go for the smaller with lycra it steches fine, I've got some medium Orbea bib shorts that I bought before I realised what cycling sizes are like and they fit fine, I found out later they are for someone with a 26-28 inch waist

  • I've just received my DHB Merston bibtights and tried them on quickly. They feel like a great fit. I got a small, as their fitting chart said that was for 5ft8" with a 30" waist. I've got a 32" waist but it stretched no probs and had a lot more give should I be having a "fat day".

Looks like i'll be trying them out properly for the first time on my charity ride on Friday, as The Lady's family are coming down tonight and then we are going to see Dave Gorman on Thursday.

Hope they don't rub anywhere unmentionable

    Haha, just got this reply:
Hi Sara, these bibs size up very, very, very small so would suggest a size XL. Forget that they are XL, it's only a number but they are exceptionally small. However, a really good product at a great price.

XL it is then..! :?

OK, so while I'm thinking about it and seeing as bib-tights with pads seem hard to come by - do you lot have any recommendations for budget leg-warmers? I worry that my ample thighs will just lead to them rolling down, just like my long stripey socks do...

That's one brave customer service person.

In my experience you NEVER tell a girl that she's an XL, even if that is just a number!

Even being at the end of an email may not be enough to save you from the wrath that can release!

Bless him, he was very careful to tell me how very very (very!) small they come up :D

I can take it - it does amuse me that people such as me are an XL, I am short and a bit cuddly agreed but - I have a mate at work much into her riding and at size 18 the poor girl often finds even 3XL isn't enough :(

I'm that size (actually tbh I'm a size bigger  ) and have given up looking for proper cycling clothing. I was going to try the 3XL from cycle-clothing but I know it would be too small.

So it'll just need to be another pair of Tesco baggys and t-shirt.

Mick at Prendas is a great guy to deal with. I have loads of Santini products and he is well right it comes up real small :)

I asked him the same question (as I am usually an XL being 6' 6" and 35" waist) and he told me to get the XXXL :) I was Oh!! you sure because I am not a fat guy!!! but he was right!
