When you have your rainjacket with you it never rains, when you decide to leave it at home it p!$$es down.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

You probably didn't make the proper, early season, virgin sacrifice to the rain gods.

Why, on some days, I put loads of effort in and seem to go slower, then other days I defy physics and pedal effortlessly at a good pace for hours?

There's been numerous studies (by all accounts) into why athletes (cyclists especially) feel like a bad of spanners one day, ride like 10 men the next and feel like a bag of spanners again the next. basically, it just happens.

Why on a four-mile descent did I only meet traffic coming the other way at a point they had to overtake a climbing cyclist, meaning I had to slow right down, and at the best part of the descent when I could have topped 50mph?

Why? After all that effort of climbing? It's not fair :(

Why did I have a flat tire at noon, on a hundred degree day, and not a bit of shade for miles? Then, break off the computer sending unit while taking the wheel off?
  • Why, when I have just bought the very last 'must have, can't bike without it' item, I think of another one !

Why, when there's finally a fine evening with no rain, do I get a p*ncture after 1k?
  • Why, when I book a bank holiday in the Lake District, is the forecast pants

Why, when I had all the time in the world to ride my bike, was it a physical impossibility yet when I am physically able, I have no time at all...

Here in Scotland, hypothermia is a real risk with every puncture, and 100° heat is but a distant dream

Why is it that I invariably pee over my shoes when cut short in the country? Even worse, managing to direct the whole flow down one legging  :D .

Why don't bikes just fall over? Only two points touching the ground, yet they stay upright quite happily, most of the time. :?

Either way, that's when flats happen. And by the way, 100 degree heat is not a "dream"
    it's a nightmare.

Why when I have a headwind, do I have a headwind? Why when I have a tailwind, do I have a headwind? Why when I have a crosswind, do I have a headwind?

Why does the wind blow in every direction but loose?
  • you are all riding so fast you are generating your own slipstream - that's the resistance you are feeling

I can vouch for that one today. It was like being in my own little hurricane.
I have nothing more to say on the matter.

So can I. It was awful today! In the process of moving from the hoods to the drops I got attacked by a massive gust of wind. Cue massive swerve to the other side of the road. Lucky there was no other traffic.

Why is it I always want to buy new things to replace things that are still working perfectly well?
  • No such thing as a tailwind. Its either a headwind or a weaker headwind.
  • unless it's a 50 mile an hour wind
